What's with sitting villagers?

So... why can't we talk properly to villagers who are sitting?

Like, you can't have normal dialogue with them; they'll give you a one or two line message and you have no input. When they're sitting in their house, they actually ask you to step back so they can stand up and talk.

Why can't we talk to sitting villagers? What's with that? It's a pain when I'm trying to talk to my villagers and Ankha decides to go on a loop between sitting and fishing. I really hate it, and it makes no sense!

Not sure why. If the villager is sitting on the ground outside and you need to them to get up (e.g. to give them a gift), just keep running into them. Eventually, they will stand up. Unfortunately, if they are sitting indoors, you will have to exit and re-enter their house (get ready to sprint towards them, lol).

For fishing, you can initiate conversation with the villager two times. On the third prompt, they will stop fishing and you can have the typical conversation with them.

I like it because it makes them more realistic-- who wants a friend that drops everything to have a full conversation with you? They got their own interests. Leave 'em alone and let them read or fish in peace!

I entered Julian's house three times at one point because he kept sitting down, lol.

I always assumed it was because if we give them a shirt they can't try it on if they are sitting and thus have to be standing up. And maybe we can't have proper dialogue with them because they are resting or something lol

I would like it so the option is still there to gift them and then when you choose that option you just have to wait a second for them to get up and then carry on like normal. I don't see why that couldn't be a thing.

whenever my villagers are laying on the beach chairs I try to lay on the one next to them so we can sun together, but they get up and walk away every time

didn't know they got up after we left! bunnie likes to sit on her chair a lot and I'm trying to get her picture before I let her move out so its been a bit annoying. I figured if I make her mad she'll get up and stomp around the room or something but she just kept reading her book, now with the sad swirls over her head sigh

I think it’s really cute to find your villagers sitting under a tree or relaxing by the water. What really drives me nuts is when a villager is sitting for KK Slider and I want to give them something. I’ve nicknamed it “KK Jail”

Their whole existence is quiet time.

They come along in swarms and plonk themselves right on a tile I'm trying to terraform, blocking me from doing anything.

They get to relax while I build and pay for everything, not once donating a single cent, so yeah.. they can get off their lazy butts to accept a gift.

That would be optimal, I'd like to do so too. I saw people mentioning months back that we can carry around a cushion to place so we can sit beside them, but whenever I tried it, the sitting villager ended up standing up. It's a shame.

If they're giving me a present, I do! LOL! I just had to interject some levity here as I think we all respect personal time and space in real life. It's just a game though, everyone here is entitled to their own opinion!

From personal experience, they still tend to walk towards the chair the next time you re-enter their house. That's why I said to get ready to sprint towards them upon re-entering. x) I didn't know they could get sad in their houses~ ;_;

My question about sitting villagers is more in where they choose to do so. I have so many pictures of a spot on my island where there's a bench in front of a little pond. People love to sit here in this spot with a soda... But they always plop down right in front of the bench. Like... There a bench!!

You can actually push them so they will stand up. It will not make them angry. This is not effective when they are next to KK Slider though.
