What's the worst/best part of starting a new town?

In my opinion, the best part of starting a new town is the layout. I love walking around and thinking of all the different ways I could incorporate the landscape into my paths. I think it's exciting starting new because you're starting fresh and you have these unlimited options in front of you. Kinda like a blank canvas.

The worst part of starting a new town for me is starting out broke. It's annoying to collect money to make your house somewhat decent, and having a super limited mainstreet. It's hard starting from the bottom because you don't have a decent amount of items in your catalogue, or because you haven't unlocked Shampoodle yet so you're stuck with a starter hairstyle.

What about you guys? What do you love about starting a new town, and what do you hate?

I love the fresh new layout and new villagers. I enjoy have a fresh clean start because it's a new whole town and I could change it to however I want. I could change it way more differently than my previous towns.

The thing I hate about restarting is catching all the fish and bugs again. I hate going through the tutorial. I hate earning all of my bells again and hate how to spend so much time redoing my town.

I had a restarting problem, and it's what made me lose my interest because I never kept a town for more than 2 months. I hated doing the tedious tasks for the tutorial.

The worst for me is the endless journey towards waking Cyrus up, and getting Mabel to let me use the QR machine. Also building up the approval rating, none of which are difficult, but can definitely be tedious. Oh, and starting over with only the basic PWP suggestions (though it is fun when a villager finally suggests one you want).

The best part for me is going crazy with the theme on a blank canvas of a town--my main town is themed, but I work on that gradually and focus on enjoying the day to day gameplay. My secondary towns are heavily themed, though, and I love working on that!

i think the best part is seeing what default villagers you've ended up with.

but the worst part is, like you said, being broke. i'm pretty rich right now, i almost have 50 million bells in the abd, and if i didn't have that money and i still had loans to pay off, it would not be as relaxing as it is.'

but there's always the pride and sense of achievement when your house is finally fully expanded!

Best part: is getting a map you want. I love getting a map that makes me excited for town development.

Worst part: starting off broke and not having the island and the ANNOYING process of getting the town development permit. Its taking me so long to do this on my side town which I reset constantly.

My favourite part is definitely getting a fresh layout, it's so exciting to me to run around a new town for the first time! So many possibilities for PW projects and such. I also love seeing which default villagers you end up with, and which ones move in for the next couple of days. I'm always super excited to play every morning after restarting my town.

The worst part for me is, as others had said, starting out with nothing; you have to build up your friendship with Sable again, you have to unlock the island again, you have to unlock all of the buildings and upgrade Nooks, etc. Also starting out with such a small house can be a little annoying sometimes. And having to fill up your museum and fish catalog again (I don't mind filling up the bug one because bug hunting is fun but I dislike fishing).

The best part is getting new villagers, especially since, while dreamies are fun, having random villagers and getting to know villagers you wouldn't have otherwise paid attention to is a lot of fun!

The worst part is waiting to unlock the stores.

The best part is anticipating what villagers you will get, choosing what layout of map you'll have, and just planning out your whole town theme and setting it all up from scratch! Isn't that exciting!?

The worst part I'd definitely say is starting out broke. So many items you want but you gotta work for those bells :'( and getting rid of weeds, trees, etc.

Worst; having to go through the tutorial, raising villager approval rates, and getting those rare bugs/fish all over again... especially the mole cricket. I hate that bug in ACNL like no other.

Best; New villagers, new maps, new mayor, new everything

Worst part would be waiting for all the shops and other things to get unlocked. My other towns gave the mayor some money and items to get started with. It helped to have a golden net and fishing rod to get catch items faster.

Favorite is finding new villager and decorating a town a different way. Found out that I love the look of pink lilies with white flowers. Rarely used them in the my other towns. Enjoy the hunt for all the bugs/fish/ diving collection and completing another museum.

I would say the worst part is the nostalgia of your old town. I usually get pretty attached to my towns, so when I reset I always feel kinda bad about it for a few days.

But the trade off is pretty great. I love starting fresh with the new possibilities and the new routine. The beginning of the game is when you immerse yourself into it most and it feels much more real than when you get towards the end and feel like there's not much else to do.

The worst part is having to go through Isabelle's advice tutorial again... at least it's optional, though!

The best part is all the new things. New map, new layout, new possibilities, a new leaf.

worst: earning everything you collected back (bugs, sea creatures, badges, bells, etc)
best: new start, better layout, you have more knowledge and skills in laying out a town than you did previously

Best part is the new and fresh start! thinking of all the possibilities of your new town.

I actually just bought a cartridge (my main town is an e download) and I have been resetting for 2 days trying to get
The layout, the fruit, the river, the way the beach faces, the house placements of the animals, and the cobblestone areas infront of the building just right and it's taking forever. But this is something I wish I'd payed more attention to on my main town.

It will pay off I hope!

My favourite thing about starting fresh:
Being able to pick a new layout, new native fruit, new grass pattern.
Seeing who your starter villagers are and seeing if you'll be keeping any of them or if they all have to go.
Being able to have all these plans and ideas in mind for laying out paths, PWPs, future villager houses.
It's like you have a bunch of new possibilities laid out in front of you and everything is like putty, you just have to figure out how to mold it.

My least Favourite thing about starting fresh:
Probably having to earn bells and not having main street complete.
It takes a bit of time to earn bells in the beginning until you unlock the island.
Which I suppose doesn't take that long depending on how you play.
Having to build up the catalog again is really annoying.
The worst is building up the store.
Also not having shampoodles.
My favourite thing is changing up my hair from time to time but it takes a while to get shampoodles and that's really obnoxious.

I loooove starting over, lol. I think I'm addicted to map resetting. I love going through the options and finding one that feels just right to me. I get a little too serious about it sometimes, though, and will occasionally use a guide on tumblr to figure out where the rocks in my town will spawn based on pond locations and the stone area in front of buildings/town square shape.
I love the feel of starting fresh, having a blank canvas as someone else stated. Especially if I deleted a town due to being unhappy with the layout or something. It's more rewarding to me to be totally happy and inspired with my towns, and if I'm no longer inspired with it, that's usually my sign to consider starting over.

The worst part for me depends on how much work I put into the prior town. Having everything unlocked, having acquired lots of hybrids and landscaping items, rare items, etc. is what mostly keeps me hesitant. Luckily I can trade bells/items as I have two copies of the game and borrow my sister's 3ds, but losing the buildings/villagers is very bittersweet. I have a town now where everything is unlocked, i have tons of items and bells, and I was considering starting over due to various reasons. But I'm going to keep it, just because of the work I put into it (I also got a cheap third copy of the game recently so >.> <.<)

Best part is that you can choose different map and have different ideas for it on what to do

But the worse is actually not knowing where the rock is
And probably breaking a path

Worst: having to unlock everything!! Oh gosh it takes at LEAST a couple weeks to unlock the things you need, and for nooks stores to open and shampoodles to open and for cyrus to be unlocked as well. Basically starting a new town is pretty tough lol

Best: probably the fact that you can start fresh, start over and be creative and just basically plan out everything you want your town to be :)

Worst part: having to do the villager approval rating thing and getting enough bells to actually get started and buy stuff.
Best part: new opportunities! New villagers and just the general fresh start!
