What's the rarest bug in the game?

Just curious as I've caught two golden stags within 5 minutes. xP

Pretty sure it's a draw between the scorpion and tarantula. Though the golden stag and the horned hercules are close seconds.

Golden stags (and all expensive island beetles) aren't rare at all in my opinion, you just gotta know where/when to look and how to catch them.
I'm gonna go with Scorpion for sure.

Forgot about scorpions and tarantulas as I haven't even seen either, lol.

I have no idea...I catch tarantulas/scorpions all the time...almost nightly, so I don't think they're rare, especially in season.



I think I have to give it to the Giant Petaltail Dragonfly...I have yet to catch one :/ I just never see it, unless it's an island game which in that case isn't registered on your encyclopedia.

honestly, the only one that actively gave me trouble just showing up strangely enough was the Petaltail Dragonfly

at least on mainland, ****'s incredibly easy to find with the right island tour

I think the tarantula or the scorpion is the rarest cause I have only see a few in the three years that I have been playing new leaf

Petal tail maybe? Although golden stag is rare on the mainland. Have yet to see a scorpion or tarantula in my main town.

I had one island run where I legit caught almost an entire inventory's worth of stags and hercules. Katrina truly blessed me that day. I'm happy just getting 4-5 of them combined.

I gotta agree with the mainland Petaltail being the rarest. I've only ever seen one and he sorta scared the shet out of me during the bug catching tour. Mofo's enormous.

I don't see tarantulas and scorpions that much, but I see them enough to be rendered uncomfortable and remember why I really really -really- hate summer. Between them and the mosquitoes I'm debating just TTing to friggen Autumn...

For me it's the tarantula. I think I've only caught a small handful of them and I catch the petaltail dragonfly almost every other day. I also find scorpions a lot more lately and I don't think I've caught a single tarantula since it got in season... Weird.

I agree with tarantulas and scorpions ;__; omg I spent so long... and they gave me chills as I got bit by them a few times and fainted before catching them. and I hate spiders >.<...

Defiantly giant stags/Scarab beetles for me, my time is always too early/late to catch them and I don't play at the real time to get them. Close second are Hercules stags, I'll be lucky if I see on or two while harvesting.

The giant petaltail was the very last bug I had to catch and I had to keep going in and out of buildings to try and reset its spawn rate. It took so long and I had encountered 2 tarantulas, which both bit me, before I finally found the stupid dragonfly. Tarantulas and scorpions were definitely second hardest though, especially since my town has so many flowers that I didn't know where it was in order to catch it.

I'd definitely go with the tarantula/scorpion, if only due to the fact that catching them requires practice and precision. Sure, the petailtail may be rare in terms of seeing it, but at least you don't faint if it touches you and then have it disappear. Golden stags, for me at least, range more to uncommon than rare when you do the beetle farming method on the island.
