What's the point of TBT collectables?

What's the point of them? I'm still new to this site but everyone seems to want some of them, do they do something special for you? I just don't get it >.<

We've had so many of these threads before. Collectibles are for collecting and I guess some people want to display what they have collected or people simply collect it because they like it (and not for bragging rights??)

I personally buy collectibles that I like (i.e. chococake coz i love cake) and whatever else.

If you could careless about collectibles, then there's no need to even consider getting them. Nothing special comes with it imo.

Basically this. Why do you collect anything when it comes to real life? For fun. They don't do anything special or amazing.

I'll just add that the fact that they're hard to get, both the collectibles and the TBT to buy them, makes it more interesting for many people. That's why there's an entire section of the forums just for trading them. It's part of the fun.

You could say bragging rights for some, but for me, for example, it's more a matter of self gratification. I know I have/had to be patient, earn the TBT, do smart trades, have some luck or help from kind/generous people...all of that is rewarding in itself and the collectibles carry a memory of that.

So while they are cute, and I love the fact that they further customize my profile, they also have made things more interesting for me here. But I take a fairly laid back approach to it, whereas some people probably get more stressed out and worked up about collectables than they should. But I guess to each his own, if that's how they enjoy collecting.

The collectibles and TBT bells add another element of interest to the Forum, but the explosion of wanting to collect them is quite recent, as members come and go, I wonder if the fad of collecting will carry on, or if the next generation of forum members will ignore them!

There isn't really a point to it. If you're the type of person who collects things, or like the style of a collectible, then you should buy some. If you'd rather save your bells for other things, then do that.
I personally don't have much interest in them and would only buy on a restock to sell for profit to help my town and buy art to be honest.

The collectibles don't have a purpose, but I believe the dark candy did during Halloween.

They're just little things to spend the sites currency on. I find it rather insensitive to question their use actually. Some people enjoy collecting them so calling them "****ty pixels" is pretty rude. If they aren't your things, fair enough that's your opinion but you need not be so rude about them.

I wasn't interested in collectibles at first, but I've come to like them. I feel like they represent what a user was around for. e.g. the feathers, birth stones, etc. Although, unlike the majority, I don't really trade/buy collectibles from other users; besides gifts from friends, I get mine directly from the shop itself - hence why it still holds this sort of meaning for me.

When I joined I just ignored collectibles until when the woods came out and Kaiaa made a collectible restock thread. That was a lie but it made me interested in collectibles.

The best part about this is that I told everyone I was lying and they didn't believe me! That was honestly the best woods I've ever participated in :')

Collectibles are to be collected, if you want. Just like how some people collect spoons or rocks, some people collect collectibles.
