Watched The Substance last night. The makeup/design in that movie.. I knew it was somewhat horror, but was not expecting body horror! I loved it.
Also planning on watching Smile 2 in theatres when it drops. Been in a horror mood lately, it being October + favourite genre

Idk if I have the stomach to watch The Substance, but it has an interesting premise, especially as a commentary on how society treats aging women. Some drag queens I follow on Insta are big fans; I didn’t know how popular it would get.

Understandable with being unable to watch it; I went in semi blind and was feasting throughout the movie (regrettably so lol)
Gore aside, The Substance portrays it's commentary really well while delivering what is say a unique story. I can see why it would get this popular! but I agree not to this extent.

I finally got around to watching The Bob's Burger Movie. I wasn't sure what to expect. It was pretty much just a really extended episode, but I really enjoyed it. I kind of figured out what the twist was at the very beginning.

Yesterday night, after hearing about them some time ago and then @Mr.Fox mentioning them, I decided to check out X and Pearl, both of which were directed by Ti West and released in 2022. I wasn't really sure what I thought of X at first; there were some parts I liked and some parts that felt a bit off, but watching Pearl afterward ties things together and enhances X. There are still some things that don't add up even still, but for what they are they're a cool pair of movies. I'll get to the third installment in the series, MaXXXine, at some point but not this month as I already scheduled out the rest of the month's viewing. Maybe next month?

On Friday night I revisited director Nobuhiko Obayashi's 1977 movie House and director Dario Argento's 1985 movie Phenomena.
Tonight was a yearly double feature of two of the best vampire movies of the 1980s; director Joel Schmuacher's 1987 movie The Lost Boys and director Tom Holland's 1985 movie Fright Night.

It's been awhile since I've watched a movie so I'm trying to remember lol... This is gonna drive me crazy trying to remember. The last one I can think of is Glass at my friends house, but I feel like I watched some stuff after that but I can't seem to think of what I watched lmao oh maybe the Deadpool wolverine movie in theaters? Which was months ago. Idk if I've watched anything after that, definitely not in theaters lol

On Sunday night, in the spirit of the Haunted Carnival Halloween event here on the forums, I revisited director Tobe Hooper's 1981 movie The Funhouse and the Chiodo Brothers' 1988 movie Killer Klowns from Outer Space.
On Monday night I revisited director James Whale's 1932 classic The Old Dark House. I then decided to follow it up with a movie I only learned about this month, a Swiss silent movie by the name of The Phantom Carriage which was directed by Victor Sjöström and released in 1921. I liked it! The plot was good and the effects were pretty neat. I might have to make it a yearly viewing for New Year's since it's set on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.
Tonight I revisited director Frank De Felitta's 1981 movie Dark Night of the Scarecrow and director Kathryn Bigelow's 1987 vampire movie Near Dark.

On Friday night, The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs had its Halloween special, this year entitled the Beelzebub Bash. The first movie they showed was director Jeff Lieberman's 2004 movie Satan's Little Helper. It was my first time watching this movie and perhaps my last since I didn't like it much; there were a few aspects that I liked, but it was mostly a dumpster fire. I've watched many horror movies in my time and one of the characters in this movie is the most aggravatingly stupid character I have ever seen. The second movie shown as part of the Beelzebub Bash was directors Cameron and Colin Cairnes' 2023 movie Late Night with the Devil. I've seen it before, but it was a good way to recover after the previous movie.
On Saturday night I did my yearly viewing of director Don Coscarelli's Phantasm and Phantasm II, which were released in 1979 and 1988 respectively.
