So there's this villager I want to kick out - not because I don't like her - but because her house is built on a very inconvenient spot. Any advice?

what i do is that i build a relationship with the villager i don't like & never talk to anyone else so hopefully they'll be the only one to ping me.
usually this works but ignoring them has worked for me too, just make sure you talk to them sometimes or they won't ping you.
the easiest + fastest way is getting a villager from an amiibo card though. you can choose who you want to kick out so they can move in

edit: i forgot about this but like nine said, if you don't have an amiibo reader you're out of luck unless you buy one or get the new version. also i've seen people saying they've been scammed but on some websites you can see the person you're trading with their reputation. so just be cautious

Those last two sentences sum it up pretty well.

The only issue is that you have to pay, and you can risk being scammed if you buy them online. Plus you'd also need to buy an NFC reader/writer if you have an older 3DS model.

Also keep in mind that amiibo move-ins REALLY like to come in on top of the spot where the house they forced out was, if you're restricting their options with patterns. Be prepared to plot reset a lot--it took me nearly thirty tries last time. If there are lots of available lots, this seems to be less of a problem.
