What's going on with seasonal DIYs?

I've been playing every day this month and have been shooting down lots of balloons, but have only managed 3 mush DIYs.

I usually like to acquire the DIYs on my own, but with such little luck and so many DIYs coming up (maple leaf and winter items too), I'm wondering if I'm just better off trading for them than spend hours looking for balloons.

Are they all going to be this difficult to acquire? Curious to hear others experiences.

i'm not too sure exactly if it's like this for everyone, probably not. for halloween, i was getting DIYs in quite a few balloons rather instantly, and before half of october was gone, i had all the available DIYs to receive before the actual event happened.

for these mushroom DIYs, though? i've literally only managed to pop a single balloon with a mushroom DIY in it. i think it's just RNG, honestly - you gotta pray to the gods before opening up your switch or something :c

I’ve managed to find all the recipes, but I usually hunt for them in specific. If you’re just shooting them down as you see them while you’re doing other things it’ll take longer.

Same - I think I got most of the Halloween DIYs from my villagers when they were crafting, but it doesn't seem like the mush DIYs can be acquired that way (or maybe I'm just really unlucky). Not sure about the others coming up.

i'm fairly sure that villagers will not be crafting the mushroom DIYs, and they're specifically obtainable by balloon and the messages in bottles on your beaches everyday. don't quote me on that, though <3

I only got mush diys from balloons, and still miss mush parasol after shooting down at least 60 balloons:(

I hope i am not overstepping here, but if you guys need or want to get the DIYs asap, I have DIYs for sale in case you wanna jump and have a look. Ill leave the link:

You have a really wonderful collection! I am currently outside and will get in touch tonight. I will post in your original post for what I want.

The mush DIYs have been very hard to get and I have put in a lot of hours this month.

This has been my strategy as well. It took the better part of a combined 3 hours over 3 days to get them all, but I did. New ones start to arrive on Monday, so be prepared for that.

how.. how does one farm for balloons? i've literally only every just.. noticed them as i'm going about my day, doing things. is there a trick to it? don't mind me, asking you good folks things i can easily google.

My island is in the Northern Hemisphere, so from 7a to 6:59p, balloons travel from west to east, and from 7p to 6:59a, they travel from east to west.

Depending on the time of the day, I hang out on the very bottom of my beach. Once the clock strikes :00, and every 5 minutes after that, balloons become visible along the shore. If I don't see it from where I'm standing, I run up the beach (hooray for 2 south river exits!), looking up in the sky for a balloon. If I get to the top of the beach without finding something, then it wasn't meant to be for that specific time. I then settle back down at the bottom of the beach, and wait another 5 minutes for the next chance. Sometimes there will be 8 balloons in an hour, sometimes 4, but it's really the best way I've found to farm balloons.

Keep in mind that balloons won't spawn if you're indoors when they're supposed to spawn, and will disappear if you enter a building while one is in the sky.

AND, if it makes any difference at all, I have a golden lucky cat in the southeast corner of the main room of my house. I rarely have problems finding seasonal recipes in balloons, so perhaps this has something to do with it.

Yeah its so weird, I use to be able to get all the seasonal balloon DIYs super easily through Halloween, but since the mush items, I literally only got 2 on my own (since Nov. 1rst). I remember getting all the other seasonal DIYs within the first week they were released, and then would end up with a bunch extra. So much, that I would stop popping balloons. Maybe they changed the rate of DIY spawns because I cannot believe how many balloons I have popped that have not had any recipe cards in them.

edit: I recently changed up my main room interior at the end of last month, I wonder if @tajikey is on to something and feng shui/in-game luck has something to do with it....

wow.. that's actually a lot more simpler than i had expected it to be. thank you so much for taking the time to type that out for me <3
if i get motivated, i might try to do this tomorrow to see if i have any luck getting some more of those DIYs.

I just kept shooting down balloons and all I get is bells and furniture I already have :( I am about to give up looking for spring diys and just go looking for autumn now :(
