Rate and review Animal Crossing New Leaf through 1 to 10, what score do you think it deserves?

The poll will probably skew to the more favorable side (considering this is a fan forum for Animal Crossing) but an anonymous poll would still be interesting.

I think the game deserves a 10/10 if I consider its competition and medium. The amount of hours I've clocked into this game no where matches any other game for me on the 3DS. There's a lot of super fun 3DS games I would rate 9/10, but I wasn't hooked on those games for 700+ hours like I am for New Leaf.

I rate it a 9/10. It's better than its predecessors, but Club Tortimer, the luck system, and animals moving mechanic have been bad enough where 10/10 is too high. That, and there aren't enough features like I want to see.

I would give it a 9/10. I find that NL is definitely the best of the series so far but I also find faults with it as well such as the random plot placement for villagers (which I always found really peculiar since YOU are the mayor of your town) & the lack of original dialogue from most villagers as it literally seems like every villager from the same personality says the same things all the time.

I haven't really noticed the luck system in gameplay. Are you talking about Feng Shui and tripping often on "bad luck" days? I never got into the Feng Shui or its effects. And the only time I talk to Katrina is to cure "bad luck" days and I just buy her overpriced hats.

I never cares too much about Feng Shui. What I hate is when the game punishes you for not wearing what they want you to wear (I'm referring to the bad luck days). Why would they require you to wear items on good luck days to unlock fortune, yet punish you for not wearing the "correct" item on the bad luck days? They need to fix that next game (I came up with a few ordinance ideas, and the luck ordinance is one of them).

I'd give it an 8. It's a great game that'll keep you occupied for months if not years but its not really a game you could spend hours playing at a time like a Pokemon game. It's more like a little development over a long period (unless you want to time travel) which isn't exactly my cup of tea but its still really really good.

I'd give it an 8 or 9. It's not perfect but I don't have any major issues with it as compared to the previous games. The only thing about the AC series I don't really care for is the whole real-time aspect. You can only play for so long every day without getting bored. But at the same time this can be a good thing, I like seeing the seasons change.

Like everyone else, I find the random plot placement really annoying, as you may have a nice little garden full of hybrids one day, and the next day its flattened and the grass worn away. I also really hate the acre rule and the PWP placement. To not be able to place a bridge in the exact place that it was before, just because a resident moved in after the origional bridge was build is infuriating. Its a great game, but they could have done certain things a whole lot better.

I voted 9/10. It's so close to being totally freaking amazing, but there are some features I was sad that got missed out (like the observatory/constellations, message in a bottle), and the fact villagers have such limited dialogue and can repeat the same lines over and over (like 3, 4 times straight in a row). There's a few more things but I'm tired now and my brain isn't working very well lol.

Agreed, the PWPs were a good idea but it's really hard to place them and it feels like you have to have a HUGE area for the smallest things :/

I've got use to the good/bad luck thing. Just put the hat on when I don't have the item.
The PWP I've figure out but was annoyed by the bridge. Wished when asking to remove the bridge Isabelle would say another bridge can't be placed in the same spot. Are you sure you want to remove it?

Yes some things could have be fixed but I'm enjoying it still. That's the most I've played a video game. If I add two towns I'm pass 3,000 hours.

Considering the fact that i have been playing new leaf for over a year with just a few short breaks here and there, i had to give it a 10.I have played a lot of different games that kept my interest for a long time, but never this long.I can see myself playing this for at least another 6 months or longer.

It's not without flaws, but it is actually the game I've played the most ever, not even MMOs can top my ACNL playtime count (1800 hours over a year and counting, heh...)
It's also the most relaxing game for me and just feels so...welcoming. Because of that I'll give it a 10 :)

9/10
It has the best features in the Animal Crossing series while the music is kinda meh for some parts and the villager mechanics aren't what they're like in the original or Wild World.

I want to say that I think the inability to control villager plots and how time passes in real-time are a part of gameplay mechanics that the developers wanted. Mr. Resetti straight up says "Ya gotta play the cards life deals ya." and the most egregious theme of the series is simulating real life, including life's unfair "outside-of-your-control" moments like when somebody "ugly" suddenly moves in next to you.

I can totally see how this gameplay mechanic can turn off people from the series in general. But I don't see the future iterations of Animal Crossing ever letting you choose who moves in, when and where, because that's not something that happens in life.

Great point! Animal Crossing's meant to be played like playing in real time, the luck system, Isabelle droning about why you can't place this PWP in there(though, I really like to place them side by side.), and random villager placements make sure that there are uncontrollable things happen in the game, and this makes your town unique to others.

I'll rate the game 9/10, the game's great, but I would like the villagers to be more unique to each other than rather being placed into their own personality and keep focusing on it.
