What was your first video game?

Snoopy's Game Club for PC

(I hope I played with the free crayons, too)

Computer game: Freddi Fish

Video game: Doom for PS1 (Well, technically it was my dad’s, but I played it at times.)

Actually mine: Crash Bandicoot 2

My first game console was a V-Tech Smile, a Chinese cartridge-based system from the aughts that only had licensed games. The three games I remember having on that device were Ratatouille, Toy Story 2, and Finding Nemo. Of those three, I believe Ratatouille was the first game I played. I haven't played the game in over 15 years, but I remember it being a mediocre 2D platformer that tried to teach basic colors. I don't believe I got past the first or second level. None of the games on the system held my attention for long, and my parents donated the device within a year or two of me getting it. I played no more video games until I got a DS Lite for my 8th birthday and New Super Mario Bros.

I vaguely remember playing Fredi Fish!! You were a fish and had to go to different places and talk to other undersea creatures to solve a mystery? Or something like that?

Yeah, I think it was made by the same people who made Putt-Putt and Pajama Sam. I also remember the Putt-Putt saves the circus one, or something like that. I didn’t know Freddi was a girl for the longest time because of the name lol.

I believe it was Heroes of Might and Magic III or II, but it might have been something else, I can't say for certain.

My mom didn't allow video games, so I saved up some money and bought a Super Nintendo at a flea market when I was 11. It came with Super Mario World.

I was terrible at it! My little sister beat it so I mostly watched her play lol. We didn't play tons since we had to hide it and could only play if my mom wasn't home.

It was Missile Command on the Atari. Surprisingly, my parents found money for one of the earliest video game systems. I am sure we ate extra frozen peas for a year to make up the money.

I hate peas...

My first game might have been Mario Kart or some national geographic panda game, both for the DS. I'm not sure because I've been playing with consoles since I was three, in and around. We spent a lot of time in waiting rooms for some stuff that I won't disclose because, sir, this is an animal crossing forum. But probably Mario Kart since I have distinct memories of getting annoyed and crying about being unable to play with my siblings because I didn't understand how controls worked.

for PC, it was either a putt-putt/freddi fish game or this winnie the pooh spelling game i used to play all the time. no idea how i even played these things at all since i was literally like two years old, but i have such distinct memories of them!

for console, i'm pretty sure it was the original super mario bros on the famicom. the game was already almost a decade old when i was born, but somehow a vacation house we stayed at each summer had a famicom with the game and that's all it took for me to be hooked.

If we're talking about gaming in general, it was probably some Leap Frog game thing I got when I was like... 4, lmao.

The first video game I actually owned and beat myself was Pokemon Diamond on the DS.

My first game was Animal Crossing City Folk! Omg, I have so many great memories from it c:
It was Christmas, we were gifted a Wii and my grandpa got us a bunch of different Wii games. I remember instantly being drawn to it and not letting anyone else play it 😅 And that’s how I became obsessed with the franchise!

My family was very restrictive with video games, but the first game I remember playing was one of the JumpStart games for PC...not certain which one because it's been so long, and I was so young, but it was definitely one of the ones for super young kids. I also remember playing one of the Putt-Putt games on a school computer!
I do, however, remember very clearly the first video game I ever fully completed the story for, which was Endless Ocean :D
