What Villagers Do/Don't Display In Their Houses

I feel like some items are much harder to get them to display such as music boxes and albums.

They are! It always takes me multiple attempts to get my villagers to display music boxes.

I sent a giant clam shell(fresh from the beach)to Prince and he replaced a bug that was on his ranch table with the shell,so they do display shells.
