I like a happy and entertaining/energetic town, so I've stayed clear of smug and snooty villagers, and tried to limit the cranky and jocks. (I did find some entertaining and nice Jocks tho, kept them).
Right now i have
3 Peppy
2 Lazy
2 Jocks
1 Normal
1 Cranky
1 Smug (It's Lionel, he's the wiseman.)
I feel like I have too many Peppy though and don't have a good balance of personalities, so it'll get very dull and repetitive with conversations, etc.
I prefer to have at least one of every personality type in my town. Two of any type at the most. Since you feel like you have too many peppies, why not let your least favorite one move out? Then maybe try to get another normal, cranky or smug?
Three is the max for one personality type for me. It can/will get repetitive but if you like peppy villagers a lot then it probably won't bother you. Two of a personality is a good even number.
I had no Jocks or Snooties in my town for a while, and it does get quite repetitive when you've got more than two of one personality type, unfortunately. At the moment my town has
and I'm on the lookout for a Jock (I'm thinking Rudy), and this balance is suiting me well.
I think because the Jock and Peppy dialogue is so quirky, I find it grates a lot more than, say, the normals. Lolly and Daisy both saying "I can't seem to run into anyone else today!" when I talk to them repeatedly is way less annoying than "Have you been CLONED?! Ohmigosh I hope I'm friends with ALL of you!!!".
I didn't even notice you don't have a snooty. (Or an uchi!) Well, I adore Willow. She's snooty, but mine is a "mild" snooty. In fact, she's actually very friendly.
I like to have at least one of each personality, and I always have at least two crankies. I have three crankies in my first town and it gets kind of repetitive but cranky is my favorite personality so it's okay. I also like to keep the genders pretty even, but that doesn't always go well lol.

Oh yeah, and snooties are super sweet once you befriend them. Freya is the sweetest little thing!
I currently have 2 snooties, 2 peppies, 1 normal, 1 cranky, 1 jock, 1 smug and 1 uchi. I have one free villager space for a lazy (I'm waiting to pick Biskit up from a cycle town). I want more female characters in my town since my first town had a lot of males. Hopefully I can get rid of my smug soon since I don't like the personality but I'm waiting on PWP requests. Although the peppy and snooty personalities can get a little repetitive, I like to think that they're a little different? Like Freya seems to be the snootier one over Timbra, who is actually really nice that I forget she's a snooty sometimes.
Thank you all for the advice and comments, I'll definitely look to restructure my town. As I'm still trying to cycle out 1 more villager (Sterling). Before I really get into the set plans.
I'm trying to get a color scheme going with my villagers to match my town (pastel/pink) rather than personality, but I've always wanted having all-snooties as a way of representing a classy, refined town.
I like having every personality in town, even if I like one personality more than others. I've just always done it that way and it just seems like the perfect balance. I personally quite like the snooties in this game and they've become one of my favourite personality types. But whenever i'm doubling up villagers I always double up the snooty and lazy villagers as I feel they have a lot more to say. Sometimes I double up the smug villagers.
I'm not bored of the normals because they are my 3 favorite characters (Maple, Molly, and Fauna). If anything I'll get a new uchi and then remove Kyle if I have to for a jock...if I really want one. My normals, Julian, Fang, Beau, and Chrissy and Francine are mine forever.
I don't really have a preference or think about the personalities too much. The only time I really ever did was because I wanted the pwps the uchis request, so I sought out two of them for my town. Other than that I just pick villagers because I like them. I'd probably get annoyed with more than one Jock though, I'm not a fan of most of them.
Yeah she can be fairly hard to find. I was lucky to see her in a cycling thread the day after I got Chrissy from campsite. I posted just in time because somebody else posted right after me haha.
Ideally I like to have 1 of each kind, and then I like to have duplicate normals and snooties. The other personalities feel too unique to me to duplicate! :>
