If they make another animal crossing, what do you think they need to change and improve from new leaf?

Don't get me wrong, new leaf is amazing, but there are so many little things that could have been improved:

For me I'd like:

1. A "select all" button in the pockets menu.

2. Villagers who are thinking about moving should suggest it immediately the next time you talk to them (instead of waiting until they get an exclamation mark and run up to you). So many people I know have lost villagers because of the lack of such a feature and villagers failing to mention they were leaving.

3. If a villager is in boxes, there should still be one last chance to convince them to stay, just as a security measure. Villagers aren't important to everyone, but many people actually stop playing if they lose villagers they really liked, especially due to the cycle rule (preventing them from getting them back without a ridiculous number of villager cycling).

4. Past villagers appearing in Main street is cool, but I wish it would vary more. I disliked all the villagers I moved out (Hazel, Diva etc.) and now they're forever in my main street as they were the first few, whereas more recent villagers that left wont appear unless anyone else moves out (which wont happen as I have my perfect town now). They should vary between any villagers that have left or even just be randomly generated villagers.

5.The animal crossing chat ingame should have a log like the best friend chat. It's so easy to look away quickly and miss what somebody said.

6. Friends should be able to go to club Tortimer (or the equivalent) in groups.

7. Town owners should be able to negate certain functions to prevent theft. E.g. you should be able to grant visitors the power to pick up/drop items or use tools when in your town.

8. There should be a trading zone in which you don't need to actually add the person (you could use a specific code). This way you wouldn't have to worry about people you don't know in your town and you could regulate trades better (e.g. there could be a menu where you select the items/bells to trade). They could even use a system like Pokemon with friends, aquaintances and passerbys.

9. On 4 x 4 tables, there should be an easier way to move items. It can be hard to get 4 items all facing forward for example. One way to get around this could be a room editor mode. You could choose to do it manually, or just use the editor to place and rotate items much easier. You could even grab items from a menu linked to your inventory and cupboards.

10. Extra pockets. Or if not, the ability to stack items of a similar nature like you can with fruit. Perhaps a new tool called "bag" could have its own pocket space.

11. The ability to relocate or destroy (or even add if you want) rocks in the ground.

12. An easier way to lay paths in the town. Maybe a "Town editor" mode for laying designs.

13. A more obvious way to "freeze" time. Not everyone can play everyday for that long, but the game punishes you if you don't in some cases (e.g. missing events, losing villagers, weeds and flowers wilting depending on ordinance etc.). When Pokemon came out I stopped playing animal crossing, so I simply remembered the last time I played was october 12th and set my 3DS clock to that when I next played. Not everyone knows you can do this though, so there should be a menu option before starting to game to preserve your town on the date it was. Then when you next play Isabelle/whoever could confirm that last date you played.

All I can think of at the moment. Any other views?

Choose what villagers wear
choose where the houses are being places

Probably be able to rotate PWPs.
Also, I believe there is a chat log, I missed what someone said on BF chat once and I pressed something and it came up with what he said.

There is, but I meant a chat log similar to that outside of bf chat e.g. for people you talk to when you're in the same town.

2. Just want to say, If you play everyday and talk to all your villagers atleast once a week then whoever is moving will ping the moment they see you to tell you they are moving 5 days before they are going without fail.
The only times they don't are;
- after TTing backwards.
- if you manage to not walk infront of them on that particular day. (They are always set to go outside that day so long as they are awake when you load the game.)
- if they are unable to ping you (eg. after bee stings, if it's certain holidays, if you haven't spoke to them for 7 or more days or if the next time you talk to a villager they are going to tell you to take a break.)

13. Beautiful town effectively does this, and I'm sure that is why it is an option for ordinances. The only things that it doesn't freeze is villagers moving and grass growing. But I really don't see Ninty making a fix so you can lock in your villagers if you don't play a while. Missing events is unavoidable and a completely off the wall ask. - it's like telling the world Christmas is cancelled because you personally want to sleep through the whole of the 25th of December. xP

Anyway;
I'd like to see an apartment type building on main street. Have a couple of villagers (4 maybe?) live in flats outside of your town, still able to move in/out and wander your town but not have their houses in the way. ~ just have all their furniture in a room in the flat. This gives you a better variety of villagers in your town, while keeping space in your town. you can have 10 dreamies that you want to keep, and to make sure no plots crush your paths/bushes and then those 4 to cycle for variety or something.

BACKPACKS!
So you can have more pocket space!

They tell you without fail except when.....

This already proves they don't tell you without fail. I personally have never lost a villager in this way, but many other people have even after talking to their villagers daily. Sometimes you need to talk to them like ten times each just to see who's leaving, and even this isn't a guarantee. Plus people get busy and shouldn't be punished for not playing the game. Making it much harder to lose villagers by guaranteeing it'll be the first thing they say when they next see you will make things much easier and less annoying to those who really like specific villagers.

As for the freezing time thing, beautiful town only freezes your flowers - it can't negate villagers moving or missed events. Also it's not really an off-the-wall ask. For example, it seems stupid to be punished for actually spending your new year's eve out with friends or your christmas day with family rather than on animal crossing. Or in my case, getting a new game like Pokemon. I froze my town for 2 months + to make sure I didn't lose any of my hard work or miss any events. Not everyone will want to freeze their town, but it'd be nice to make it obvious or clear on how to do it, or implement a feature to prevent people stressing over what they'll lose/miss out on for not committing to their game over real life.

The apartment idea sounds good!

Backpacks for more space (I thought this would be epic earlier but someone already said it)
The ability to rotate PWPs. "No, Isabelle, I want my bench FACING the beach, not facing forwards!"
Ability to choose villager plot places.

I wish you can use the microphone to chat with people, instead of typing on that tiny little keyboard (which is impossible to type if I lost my stylus).

Okay, maybe that was just my poor English to start. But either way those are the only situations you do not get a ping if a villager is moving, providing you play daily. They aren't particularly difficult things to avoid other than the event issue cancelling their pings. So long as you never TT backwards and talk to your villagers regularly they will ping the first time they see you on the day they decide to move. Which imo, is actually easier than them telling you when you first speak to them seeing as they actively run up to you inviting you to speak, so what you are asking for is already something they do?

The only holiday I pick issue with is Halloween. Jingle arrives Xmas eve, so you get Christmas with the family, all other events you can do at anypoint in the day and don't have to take as long. (Though TBF Thanksgiving wasn't an issue for me as we don't celebrate it in the UK) it makes no difference if you're on AC at midnight on NYE or not as all you miss out on is fireworks but Halloween you can only play that evening and it takes hours to get everything. Thankfully this year it fell on a Thursday so my IRL parties weren't actually on the day.

And yes people get busy and miss days, but seeing as the whole core idea behind Animal Crossing is playing daily I don't see Nintendo making a feature in the game that goes around this.
When I cycle it takes me 3 minutes max to see what villagers are leaving each day, and since discovering how to cycle properly I haven't had a single villager move without them notifying me.

I fully expected that to be in ACNL, seeing as we got Wii speak with CF and there's a microphone built into the 3DS. I hope this is added too!

Villager house plots is a MUST MUST MUST MUST MUST MUST MUST ect you get the idea.

Being able to rotate PWPs

More hat shapes - I'd like to be able to make different shaped hats seeing as they're limited at the moment (whenever I make a hat with a good design it looks flat a icky when I wear it :L

Strawberries!!!! I think it would be cool for some fruit to grow on bushes like strawberries hehe

More PWPs! Like an outdoor swing that you can sit on and maybe even actually swing? I'd like some more interactive projects.

Maybe even a couple more ordinances?

Get rid of dead spots! (Except for around objects, PWPs, house ect)

It'd be fun to go to the club tortimer island with a couple of friends

Bigger town again! The new leaf one seems so small for some reason.

Be able to leave messages for best friends when they're offline

I could go on and on with a huge list of things I'd love in the next game xD

Choose where villager houses go
Maybe have the island a different time zone and seasons?

Firstly, it requires said villager to be outside and secondly it requires them to be the first one to ping you. This doesn't always happen. I don't see how something as situational as this could be seen as easier than them simply ALWAYS telling you the first time you talk to them after they've decided to move. This way you are 100% guaranteed to know who's leaving simply by talking to each villager once per day, rather than running around trying to get all of them to ping you to make sure they arent leaving, or talking to each villager multiple times incase they gossip about whos' moving. Most of the people I know who play the game (which is quite a lot as I'm part of a chatroom for acnl) have lost a villager they liked unexpectedly due to it being unclear if anyone was moving.

As for the events, even if it's a small gimmicky one like new year's, its still nice to see, especially considering how spaced out events can be in animal crossing. You shouldn't have to miss out due to spending your day in real life. Animal Crossing may be a daily game but it should take into account that it's unrealistic that people will be on every day of the year, and even less likely that they'll be there during big events parallel to real life. Holidays, exams and other real life commitments also prevent daily play, but people needn't miss out due to this. Freezing time is already a thing, all I'm saying is it should be more obvious as many people didn't know how to do it and lost a lot. Whether Nintendo implement the idea or not isn't the point, this thread was just for people to suggest ideas that they think will improve the game, and for me this would be one.

Also, it's NEVER taken me 3 minutes. It varies between sometimes very quickly (ten mins) to an hour (due to said villager not being about or other villagers pinging me). Sometimes I found out via gossip from other villagers and then have to do the diving trick to force that specific villager to ping me. Now maybe you have a super reliable method that always works (which I'd love to hear) or maybe you exaggerated, but either way the fact that so many people lose villagers despite talking to everyone shows that this could be improved, and what I suggested would guarantee that nobody lost a villager ever again. All you'd need to do is talk to each of your villagers, which doesn't take long, and doesn't require them having to ping you.

I always wanted more villager interaction. Such as being able to gift items to villagers (not only by mail) and a few other things I can't think of at the moment.
