A Wonderland meets Amsterdam theme. ^-^ With wonderland things, such as food + mushroom items. Oh and a tea party, of course. And typical Amsterdam things; lots of tulips, little parks, art and canals.
Mine is based heavily off of a touristy mountain town I stayed in last summer Lots of brick roads, a well defined shopping district, and a fair number of trees and natural spaces. However, it also has inspiration from other islands/objects I like, which don’t fit my overall theme. For example, there’s a Zen area (super common I know) just so I can have some bamboo trees, and there’s a research station paying homage to one of the main areas of my real life.
Mine is like a colorful island resort. There’s a downtown in the middle with resident services and all the houses, then outside there’s a fun tropical cafe and then the “tourist hotel“ get away area along the water just outside of town (the campsite) haha. The back of my island is the recreational stuff like fishing and picnicking and stargazing, and that’s where my house is because I consider myself the groundskeeper. My island is full of colorful fruit trees, bright hybrid flowers (I don’t use any white or pastel flowers so the color really pops!), and red imperial fences to really brighten things up! I’m super proud of it!!
I'm striving for a forest-y island with some magical and creepy elements sprinkled in. My biggest problem so far as been figuring out how to do this around places like the airport and museum.
my town is community themed so a lot of gathering areas!
I lowkey want a second town to make a more modern/sleek town with a lot of art and white/black/grey/gold colors
I'm actually trying really hard NOT to have a theme, if that makes sense
Like, I want a diverse island where ANY villager would fit in somewhere. I lean more towards natural, and have a good-sized forest area, but also have a bustling shopping district and a lovely little park outside the museum. I tend to try and move my villagers around. For instance, Erik has a cabin in the woods. Dobie lives on an isolated beach, where he can yell at people to "get off his lawn". Plucky and Coach are neighbors just above the most developed stretch of beach. Freya has a lovely little home on a hill, etc.
I sometimes see super themed islands and think "oh my gosh that's so cool I wanna do that", but then I see a different theme I love, so... I just try to keep mine neutral.
I don't have ONE theme but several little areas!
The main theme is cute/"girly"/"kawaii" (very pink & white), quite urban, but with some more nature/abandoned fairy-like places (a haunted forest, a deserted graveyard + temple, a witch's house). Also a little more rural spot with an orchard, etc.
At first when I saw this game, I wanted an elegant garden park. But of course with only a few items that make out with an elegant garden park, it doesn't seem viable anymore. Perhaps i'll just create some pretty parts around my island while maybe adding a small elegant garden park in town.
The first two tiers of my island are heavily forested in most areas, with flower gardens, beach chillout areas, a football pitch etc... then my three peaks at the back of the map have the museum and a bunch of flowers so far...I need to put something else up there beside my lakes!
I'm going for a gothic/horror/victorian theme. I'm waiting for the mushrooms and autumn stuff so that i can make it look like an abandoned victorian town that the fae have taken over
I don't have a specific theme yet, but atm I'm aiming it more as my personal style - punk rockish?? lot's of black, red, white etc. I'm considering changing it to a cottagecore theme though!
I don't know what to call the theme, but I'm drawing my inspiration from beverly hills lol. My island doesn't quite have a city vibe, but it definitely looks upscale/manicured.
Mine is like a small touristy colonial town, so I have like brick roads that are bike paths, and there’s lots of flowers and shops. I also made little parking lots for bikes around the parks and town square
