Hello, everyone. I've had ACNL since launch, and have played on and off for quite a long time. I recently have been busy and playing other games, so I haven't played AC at all. According to my activity log, the last time I played was October 2nd. I'm quite scared to go on and see who has left, but may do a TT trick.

Anywho, I'll get to the point. Since I barely play anymore, I've been thinking of giving everything away. I have probably 100 million bells, a bunch of rare sets, hybrids, DLC, etc. I've never finished my town, but I just feel depressed giving everything away. What if I decide to come back TO ACNL and it's too late? I know people are going to say "Oh give everything away" for their own benefit, but I'm hoping some nice people here will help me come up with a decision.

If someone moves away, I usually try to find other villagers that I like. Don't worry. Unless someone wanted to ping you about moving on that date, no one should move out. And if you do have a giveaway, I'd be glad to take some items.

Why not change the date to the time you last played? You wont lose anything, plus is a great tip to remember later on if you do go a really long time without playing. And if you dont fully feel up to giving all of your items away then dont do it. THat is entirely up to you. If theres items you dont want then sure give them away or even sell them, but keep the items you really like. Again that is entirely up to you, and something you should think about if you decide to do it :)

If you're scared you'll regret it, don't do it! I didn't play AC for months, and after that I actually restarted because I didn't even wat to see what my town had become in those months.

If I were you, I wouldn't give everything away. Just keep your stuff. Maybe think about doing that in a few months and you still didn't play. Or do that if you decide to start over. It'd be a shame if you gave everything away now, and regret it in a while.

I hoped this helped :)

Thank you everyone ^_^ I may give away items that I absolutely won't use, but I'll keep the things that make my town the one I've always loved.

Oh, and to those wondering, I changed the date to October 3rd and everything is normal as it was c: Just gotta TT to the current date really carefully!

I wrote a guide here on how to avoid losing villagers because of being away: http://www.belltreeforums.com/showthread.php?209379-How-To-Not-Lose-Villagers-When-You-re-Away

I don't think you need to give anything away if you think there's a chance you might still be enthusiastic about the game. October wasn't a very long time ago and I've gone a couple of months without playing some of my games, only to end up returning to them again when I got bored. :) You might still go back to ACNL, especially if you've been distracted because of other games.

If anything, you could give away things you don't really need for now, but I'd seriously wait to give away a lot of things or any important or rare items.

You can keep the important things like the DLC's and pics and some bells (For example, the ones that you need to make all the houses and some more for villagers or something)

And, don't worry, I don't think that someone has left your town. My 3DS Got broken in august, I recieved it two weeks ago, and everyone was in my town.

I would do what you're currently doing: carefully TTing to the current date and giving away only what you won't need. Good luck! :)

I would keep everything, it wont do any harm and when you go back to it you may find a new found interest in the game and it would be awful to have to start from scratch.

No, that's not true. Villagers have a chance of moving out when you leave the game alone for some time. The exception is if you deny someone's request to move on your last day playing (or if nobody was thinking about moving at the time, I think). You were probably lucky that one of those was the case for you so you didn't lose any villagers, but otherwise, it's quite likely and people have lost villagers that way.

It's not necessary to time travel to the current date, just to go back to the last date played (if someone would move out by the current date, which you can check by starting the game as a new character and quitting without saving) and keep going until someone asks you to move. Once you deny someone's request to move, you can just skip to the present, unless you want to play day by day for some other reason like making the most of seasonal events.
