A while ago, I was given a perfect apple from one of my villagers and just put it away in storage ever since. I was wondering would a perfect apple tree grow if I planted it and would it die after a while?
If you plant a perfect fruit it will grow into a perfect fruit tree! You can plant loads and they sell for more than a regular fruit, and even more if you sell them in a foreign town with a different native fruit. Perfect fruit trees die after a few shakes though. Maybe 6 or 8 shakes? When they wilt they will drop 2 perfect fruit and one rotten fruit. So make sure you replant them after!
If the perfect fruit is the same as your local fruit, it will grow as a tree with perfect fruits, if not, the tree will just have normal fruits.
Trees with perfect fruits died after a few harvests, I don't remember how many.
Yeah, it depends on whether apples are your native fruit or not. If they are, then you can plant it to grow a perfect apple. Like the others said, perfect fruit trees die after so many shakes, but then you can just replant them using the last of the perfect fruit you got from the tree. Perfect fruits are good for selling because they get you a lot more money at Re-Tail than regular fruit, especially if they're on premium.
If apples are not your native fruit, then you shouldn't plant it. You can only have perfect fruit trees of your native type, so it will just grow into a regular apple tree. What I usually do in that case is save it for when a villager asks for fruit and give it to them. Perfect fruit helps raise their friendship levels more than regular fruit.
I would plant them if they're native to your town, ofc. And if you have a second copy of New Leaf and another 3DS system or friend that still plays ACNL, you can visit another town (where apples aren't native) to sell the perfect apples for quick cash.
As others have said, you can plant it to get more perfect fruit, as long as its your native fruit. Back in the beginning of NL, a lot of people used perfect fruit farming as a way of earning lots of money. After planting a bunch, they would find someone on the forums that had a town with the fruit as a non-native, or if they had their retail buying it for extra.
