I've had a villager reserved for someone, who I'm going to keep anonymous, (I'm gonna stop doing the reserving stuff cause it's a hassle and just post when the villager decides to move) for a long while now and he finally decided to move out. The issue is that this person hasn't been online in months now and I'm not sure if they'll even be on to see the message (I'm still gonna message them tho).

So I don't know what to do or how long to wait to see if they reply or not...I'm thinking I should just wait to see if they reply and if they don't in time let the void consume this villager, but I'd like him to go to someone cause I know he's pretty popular. I'm not sure if I should also post him in the villager trade plaza and give him to whoever replies first or give him to the person who reserved him no matter who replies first to the thread unless the reserver never replies.

Depending on the answers I get I'll probably close this thread later, but I just wanna make sure I don't do something rude. :c
Hm I can't seem to close this thread??

They haven't been online in months so I think it's safe to give the villager to someone else. I can't imagine they would be upset and they most likely have forgotten. You can send them one last message just to be safe but I wouldn't stress too much about it.

If they haven't been online for months then it's completely reasonable to give him to someone else. It's very likely the person that reserved him has either forgotten about it or had found him elsewhere.

Thanks you two (I love your sigs by the way!!) that helps a lot! I think what I'm gonna do is go ahead and post the villager in the trading plaza, but make a note that the reserver has till 10:30pm today my time to reply to my message (which I'm letting the reserver know so they have a few hours to see the message) and is guaranteed the villager up until then. If they don't reply by that time I'll give them to whoever first replied to the thread.

They probably forgot all about this trade. I can't imagine anyone waiting around for two months for a trade. Maybe an art trade, but something like a moving out villager I think most people would had forgotten or ran out of patience by than. Why don't you see if anyone wants them in the trade section? You could probably get a decent thing in return and not come out empty handed.

I think your solution sounds good! If the other person hasn't been online in months, they probably don't even really play the game anymore (or if they do, they would likely have checked up on this deal). I don't think you should let this villager keep a spot on your island hostage forever!

If you reach out now, I think you've done your best. And if they still complain, just point to the reactions in this thread? :D

I think its totally ok if you decide to give him away to someone else if they don't respond. If they haven't been active in months then they either found the villager they were looking for or don't really play the game anymore, so I am sure it will be ok.

Is this a TBT user?

If you have evidence that they have not been online in several weeks then I would fully support you if you were to find a new home for (or void) the villager - even if they were to come back two days from now and say that you should have held that villager for them. If you could either make a CTS thread, or PM me their name, then I would be able to help you if they ever did return and try to leave you a negative feedback rating or contest this later.

Thank you for the offer and I'll keep this in mind, but I doubt I'll have to use this. They reserved the villager back in April (that's just how long it took the villager to move seeing as I don't time travel) and I kept them frequently updated on him and they have been nothing, but understanding and patient. I'm sorry if my wording made it seem like they weren't. ;w;

You didn't make them sound bad, don't worry! But if you want to protect yourself against any action they could potentially take when they come back online then it is better to inform us now rather than later. It ensures that your side of the story is credible.
