I have two rooms in my Mayor's house that I am just NOT happy with at all and might want to replace so I'm here looking for inspiration.

Currently, Mayor's House:

Main Room: Living Area with a Bed (Mainly Roccoco series)
Left Room: Kitchen
Back Room: Mermaid Room (One of the rooms I am not happy with)
Right Room: Just has the Lovely series in it with a TV area and my ABD (the other room I don't like)
Upstairs: My Bedroom (Princess series)
Basement: Storage/game room

Side Character 1:
Main Room: Pave furniture
Upstairs: Isabelle's one-room apartment
All her other rooms are empty currently.

Side Character 2's house is not expanded yet but I know what I am doing with her house
Main Room: ???? Undecided.
Left Room: General Store
Back Room: Gym/Fitness Center
Right Room: Classroom
Upstairs: Daycare Center
Basement: Spa

Side Character 3 is going to have a Cafe in one of her rooms and the whole rest of her house will store my Picture Collection.

I've been considering moving my Mermaid furniture to Side Character #1's house and making my mayor's back room into a sort of "backyard" using the backyard series. I just have no idea what to do with my Lovely Series room.

What rooms are in your characters houses?

Mine's pretty boring:

Main Room: Living room (mainly minimalist set with lots of plants)
Left Room: Kitchen
Back Room: Nothing yet! Might be a study eventually
Right Room: Tiny bathroom
Upstairs: My Bedroom (Classic series)
Basement: Guest bedroom (Pink Rococo series)

I don't have a side character yet but I've been customizing the exotic series for their main room :)

i just have my mayor character right now, and her rooms are

upstairs: bedroom (sloppy + minimalist set)
main room: rococo set + hybrid flowers for decoration + lucky cats + instruments
back room: kitchen (still undecided what i want to do with it, i'm thinking fruit theme? i have a watermelon table)
left side room: office (library wall, editors desk/chair, cool globe, billiards table, telescope, vintage phone, copy machine, large bookcase, some houseplants. just office stuff)
right side room: bathroom/spa

i don't have a basement yet, but i'm planning on using it as a greenhouse for more hybrids + bonsai set!

i hope other people respond to this thread because i need some ideas too! c:

hmm... still haven't designed my other characters' houses, but in my main char:

Main Room: "outdoor" garden
Left Room: convenience store
Back Room: spa
Right Room: some sort of rest house
Upstairs: doesnt have a theme yet
Basement: 'underground' sushi bar (eheheh)

Mayor Arella's house
Main Room: Classic series
Left Room: Princess series
Back Room: Sloppy series
Right Room: Kitchen + bathroom
Upstairs: Gracie series
Basement: Trophy room + villager pics + special visitors' pics

Freya's house
Main Room: Mermaid series
Left room: Island series
Back Room: Egg series + Weeding set
Right Room: Cabana series
Upstairs: Sweets set
Basement: 2 of every hybrid flower

Ryder's house
Main Room: Gorgeous series
Left Room: Pave series + Zodiac set
Back Room: Pirate series + Fish set
Right Room: Ice series
Upstairs: Mushroom series + Bug set
Basement: Card series

I don't really have much of ideas to my rooms. Freya and Ryder's houses are mostly just storage of a lot of my unorderable furniture sets. I pretty much tried doubling up a lot to save space. I was originally gonna have Freya's house be a school and then Ryder's was gonna be like an old fashioned mafia house (especially with the basement being a mafia exchange hideout thing). But I just like having them store all my stuff.

Mayor Sarah's House - full sets for Fairytale theme
Main room: Mermaid set
Left room: Princess set
Right room: Roccoco set
Back room: Ice set
Upstairs: Sweets set
Basement: Weeding set

Mei's House - customized Alpine, Ranch and Modern Wood sets
Main room: Dining area
Left room: Lounge area
Right room: Kitchen
Back room: Relaxing white themed room with Whirlpool Bath
Upstairs: Princess Set (my favourite set!)
Basement: Spa area

Mayors house: main series mixed with little pieces from others
-main room is the living room, Princess series
-right room is a small bathroom, rococo wall/floor with mermaid
-left room is a cozy cottage kitchen/dinning room
-basement is the sloppy series
-second floor is bedroom, regal series in pink
I don't have a back room as I personally don't like having an entry there.

Player 2 , 3 and 4 are all expanded 1 room to the largest, one house is the sweets series and a cafe, then I have a medical centre and finally a little school house.

I've also done all my museum exhibits (if those rooms could be useful ideas) I have a music room, an art room, library and a room with all my villager pic's dedicated to my town

I've been debating on if I should maybe expand my school house though, and use it to display all the pictures of every villager I've collected so far, maybe like a graduate room?

In my old town, I had once made a treehouse sorta deal with the second floor of my house, the modern wood set, and some added pieces. The rest of my house was sorta nature-based, so it was like having a treehouse in the middle of a forest. So it went kinda like
Main Room: I actually forget what this one was. I remember doing a sort of wheat field thing with it once
Front Room: If I recall correctly, it was dark and sorta rainforesty. Had jungle wall/floor, most likely a couple bug-off set items, some other stuff... including the moon
Left Room: Weeding Set with some other items such as Yoshi egg
Right Room: Autumn-themed; Saharah's autumn wall/floors, mush series furniture, other fitting things (leaf pile, yule log, etc)
Basement: this was usually my place to keep... interesting things. At one point I had the Egg set down there with rainbow-colored things, at some other point it was a place to showcase all my favorite music boxes, I think I had both down there at once sometime

mine's boring too xD
Main Room: Living area - has a TV, bookshelf, an assortment of cozy chairs and all that good stuff.
Left Room: Kitchen - chose to make it look a bit rustic. Lots of exotic/alpine furniture
Back Room: My garden. Just lots of potted plants, a few benches and a hammock
Right Room: Bedroom
Upstairs: "The aquarium" - a few fish, sleek furniture. The lights are off.
Basement: my wardrobe... I have too many clothes D:

Theme: Thailand & Surfing
Main Room: Cabana (multicoloured) furniture, Pirate items, w/ globe, map, suitcase, surfboard
Right: Beach, Stripe Furniture (yellow), Beach themed furniture/ items.
Left: Jungle wall, floor, Bug furniture, paper tiger, mushrooms
Back: Bathhouse, Bath set, showers, toilets
Upstairs: Camping, Flower set and Camping items, rotating Moon
Down: Boxing set

Main room: Living room. It has a TV, a computer and a dining area
Left room: Kitchen
Right room: Playroom and music room
Back room: Bathroom and utility room. I'm still looking for a an ironing board and a shower
Upstairs: Bedroom. It looks like a kid's room but I like it!

Main Room: Living room (mostly filled with saplings and bush starts).
Left Room: Bathroom (see above).
Right Room: Kitchen and dining (see above).
Back Room: Greenhouse thing (see above).
Upstairs: Bedroom (see above).
Downstairs: Study (see above).

Currently, I'm hoarding plants so I can begin some landscaping in my town, so they're littering all the extra space in my house. I don't know if I'm happy with these rooms, mostly the greenhouse. I'm just not feeling that it will fit in the endgame. So I've considered moving the study to the back room. Then I'll use the downstairs space as perhaps a hobby room to express my mayor's favorite past times. OR. I'll move the living area to the back room, making it more formal, and redesign the main room to be simply an entryway to the rest of the house with a few sitting areas.

first floor: mixture of rococo, gracie, and astro
basement: club hangout with neon signs, dj turntable, and lots of sleek furniture
second floor: large rococo bed with a sconce, rococo candlestick, lily player, and two merlion fountains

main room: egg items
right: mermaid items
left: exotic/ japan items
back: rococo set
upstairs: princess set
downstairs: children's play room

OOOOH! I love threads like this.
Look out, I have a lot to share!

Heaven:

Mayor Diana's house is a castle. The exterior is all pink. The main room is a castle courtyard, with a Cupid bench so two lovebirds could sit in the garden if they wanted to.
Her back room is a throne room.
The upstairs is her pretty pink bedroom, with several dresses on display.
The right room is currently an undersea room, but will be moved to the basement when it's fully expanded. This room will then become Servant's Quarters.
The left room is a sweets, pastel room but will be moved to another character's house when I make Moonview. This will become a dining room.
The basement has nothing in it, but when I fully expand it it will house the undersea furniture.
Diana's house is almost fully expanded. The throne room needs one more expansion, and the basement needs two.

Stella's house is still small but will eventually become a castle. I haven't decided what to do with all the rooms just yet.
The main room is based around the daytime, with the sky wall and the princess furniture, which look sort of cloud-like??
The upstairs is based around nighttime, with the lunar horizon and surface, and Super Stars turned around to look like regular stars, and the full-moon vanity. I'm going to put all twelve zodiac animals here when I get them all, along with regular zodiac furniture.
The upstairs needs one more expansion, and she doesn't have any other rooms. When I get more rooms I want to make one that looks like he inside of a spaceship, but I can't think of anything else.

I honestly have no clue what to do with Angelina's house. Currently, the main room has Pave furniture and the upstairs has balloon furniture, and neither set fits her personality. I think the gorgeous set would suit her, and it's her favorite color, red. Maybe I'll make one room a skate park or something out of Splatoon. I think Angie would really enjoy a game like Splatoon.

I'm not sure what I'll do with Keiran's house when I make him. I might make it something quiet, like a library. I might also make it zen or Japanese themed.

Moonview

I'm not sure what I'll do with Mayor Serafina's house. Serafina is actually the name of a character in a book I like. She's supposed to be a mermaid who is a princess, so maybe I'll base her home around that? I know it will end up being a castle though. I might also just make it a hotel, since Moonview is supposed to be a big city.

Candi's home will be the cafe sweet shop bakery whatever that I always had in mind. Her house will only have a main room and upstairs. The main room is the bakery sweet shop cafe thing, and the upstairs will be Candi's bedroom. I will move the furniture from Diana's current left wing and into Candi's bedroom.

Jinx's house will be a haunted house. Not the one at parks and things where you pay to get in and people are acting, an ACTUAL haunted house at the end of the street kids are daring each other to go into. I'm not sure what I'm gonna do with it though. I know the exterior will look worn down, and it will be that modern house thing?

Rosedawn

The cartridge is lost, but in case I find it...

No clue what I'm gonna do with Mayor Willow's house. No clue...

Sara's house will be pretty much the same as it was in Startown. Ice main room,
polka-dot pink and blue upstairs, and an arcade in the back. Don't know if I will upgrade it any further.

Melody's house will likely have lots of instruments and pastel furniture, but not sure on the setup of it all.

Ai might actually end up living in Moonview, but if she stays in Rosedawn her home will be pretty simple like in the movie. I think she had alpine furniture?

So yeah. Many of my homes are kind of undecided.

Oh man i have four houses and at least two rooms in each but i like vintage furniture, cabin series and mush series, also the creepy set as well. So all my rooms have that sorta theme :p

My mayor's house is what I'm calling the "ultimate streetpass house". Essentially, I'm trying to fill it with complete re-orderable sets and assorted hard-to-find re-orderable items, so that anyone who I streetpass will be HAPPY to have my home in their showcase, and find it to be a very useful resource.

Main Room: complete Regal and Classic series, and a few miscellaneous wall items
Upper Floor: all 24 different Streetpass Balloons, and all 12 "Seasonal" DLC items (eg. rainbow screen, full moon vanity)
Basement: complete Rococo series, complete Chess set, and all 12 "Horoscope" DLC items
Back Room: complete Exotic series, Vase and Lucky Cat sets, and miscellaneous re-orderable JP exclusives / JP DLC

That's all I've got for now, but my final two rooms have already been planned out:
Left Room: complete Sleek series, and complete "Spaceship" theme (captain's seat, wall-mounted monitor, ect)
Right Room: complete Minimalist and Modern Wood series

Essentially, I've tried to fill the mayor's house with some of the most desirable re-orderable sets, thereby helping out anyone that I streetpass with (and hopefully making them smile).

I guess it's a bit weird, but I hope that local ACNL players will enjoy it.

I'm in the process of redecorating right now, and it is shaping up like this:

Main room: A receiving room in which guests are entertained. Has a stereo, sofa and tea set and is the major place I put all my decorative furniture.
Left room: My kitchen/dining room.
Back room: My walk in wardrobe. I keep all my clothes on display.
Right room: The playroom. Toys, the letter set, painting items, TV and games are in this room.
Basement: A combined bathroom/toilet/laundry. I use screens to block them off from each other.
Upstairs: Bedroom. I consider it the place my Mayor goes to enjoy solitary past times and escape the world, so I keep a computer and piano up there as well.

And I don't do sets, I put in whatever furniture I think looks good and ignore my HHA score. Getting those badges are so not my priority.

My rooms are all themed to colors and stuff:
Main room: Blue room. Starry sky wallpaper and regal furniture tinted blue. Baby bed and an Aries rocker in one corner The lights are off and I have loads of blue lamps to give the room a glow. Stale Cupcakes.
Right Room: Orange room. Exotic furniture and a turntable. This is my favorite room in the house, feels so complete and alive. Has Steep Hill playing.
Left Room: Green room. Haven't started yet.
Back Room: Red room. Gorgeous furniture and a fireplace. Sort of a ski resort feel to this one. Dunno about the music.

Haven't done anything to my upstairs and downstairs either, but they'll be a yellow and purple room. Right now the basement is a mannequin and trashcan station.

My house has pretty weird rooms going for them. I'm trying to have my house be based off my favourite show on Youtube, and have the rooms resemble the personalities of the main characters, and have items that could represent stuff about them, or stuff that has happened to them.

Main room: The main room consists of the Ice Series, to represent the iciness and coldness the majority of the female characters have.

Upstairs: Upstairs is for Brittnay (one of the main characters), and currently doesn't have much in it. It has two self-made outfits displayed in it (one is her Overland Park cheerleading uniform, the other is her Mercenary cheerleader uniform). It also has the Alpine Table and Chair, customized with the flame shirt, along with a miniature car to represent the fact that she had her car blown up.

Downstairs: Downstairs is for Deandra (another main character) to represent her love of food. She's more of a restaurant-type girl, but I'm too lazy to change it xD

Left room: The room on the left will be for Mackenzie and will represent how obsessed she is...with herself. I haven't started on this room yet, mainly because I have no idea how to put self-obsession into a room.

Right room: This room is for Trisha, and consists of the Balloon Series, to represent how she only sees the good and the colours in the world and how negativity doesn't necessarily affect her.

Back room: This room will be for Shay, and I probably won't start on this room for a while, as there's not too much revealed about her character yet. If I have to, I'll make this room Saison-themed, aka France themed.
