For me it's friendship. I don't care about the other options, I just want a friendly villager. What about you guys?

Cuteness. If you spend time with your villagers, they'll all become your friends. I don't care who is popular; I like who I like. And I don't do themed towns.

The way they look (and I make sure I have one of each personality that I like)....they don't have to be necessarily cute, but I just have to like their vibe.

To be honest I only care if I've had them before or not (in any of the games). One of the best things for me is the variety and I love that there's so many villagers. I also try to get all their pictures so I care more if they are villagers I've not met before so I can get to know them.

personally i choose by which ones fit my town theme the best, i also try to have a variety of personality types unlike my old town (six normals!) :p

I love to reconnect with villagers that I've had in ACGC or in WW! It's like meeting old friends again. ;w; There's also a lot of new villagers I've fallen in love with, too, like Flurry and Deirdre, that I picked for their cuteness. <3

If they're nice and friendly or not dictates whether they get the pitfalls and toy hammer. If they don't go with my town that's fine with me, since my town is relatively undone and is likely never to be finished.

Friendship really matters to me the most! For example, my emotionally attached relationship with Melba--- we were so close and the day she moved away I friggin' cried for 10 minutes </333

I like variety myself, no matter how much I like a villager I tend to have more fun with new arrivals bringing a breath of fresh air to my town. I settled at 8 dream villagers for my theme and keep the last two spaces for temps, so even if Kid Cat is exceedingly out-of-place in a medieval fantasy town and moved in front of town hall on top of a path I still enjoy his presence if only to mix things up a bit.

Honestly I might be the only person who could get tired of deer villagers, my town just kept getting them at one point and I had terrible luck trying to get rid of them so many wound up being voided.

i like cute villagers. :')
makes it easier for me to love them. and i have odd tastes so lots of villagers are super cute to me.

I choose my villagers by cuteness. I keep my villagers by friendship (and because I spent too much money to give them up willingly)

It all comes down to unique design and whether they fit the theme of the town they're in.

For example, I have a horror-themed town. A lot of people seem to have a fear of clowns, so I made Pietro my next door neighbor. Cobb's the mad scientist, Lucky's a mummy, and I plan to get Stitches since he's a sentient teddy bear with x's for eyes.

I also have a bird town that has representatives from all of the bird species; bird, chicken, duck, eagle, ostrich, and penguin.

At the end of the day, these villagers are all just vehicles for their personality type. As such, I go for what looks good and seems fitting. I don't care how popular a villager is and cuteness doesn't factor in. I'll take the unpopular Knox with his golden helmet over a Rosie every day of the week.

Appearance is really the only important thing. For my main town I do have a theme though.

Cuteness, always. Sometimes I don't click with certain villagers that I think are cute and it really sucks when that happens.

Probably a mix of aesthetic appeal and friendship. Some villagers I actively seek out because they look cool while others will just end up in my town and I end up falling in love with them.

I don't really have a theme for the villagers that I like. I do want them to be cute (to me), but I like it when their looks match their personality type. If that makes sense?

I picked cuteness, simply because I have plenty of time to build up my friendship with them and am more likely to want to become super best friends if they're not hideous.

Popularity never really matters to me but I guess a lot of the cutest villagers are the most popular. Sometimes though I wonder why a lot of villagers aren't more popular then.

My town is a screw up town with no theme whatsoever so that never matters to me either.

So yeah, please drown me in all the cute villagers. If only my town was big enough for all of them.
