What made you buy a Wii U? (if you don't have one, look inside)

I got my wiiu in summer of 2013. It was the earthbound virtual console release that did it. I got pikmin 3 and nintendoland at the same time, and they both really made me love the console. I'm glad the sales are going up, I personally think MK8 is really just ok, and shouldn't be doing what it is to the sales but either way I'm happy.

Really looking forward to just about everything on the way for the wiiu, and hope the growing community playing it encourages more 3rd party developers to get involved. A level 5 partnership game for the wii u would be incredible

bcuz why not?
sorry I happen to be quite trendy when it comes to consoles xD
better than fashion at least..

My only reason for getting it was Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate.

I'm gonna buy one because of animal crossing.
if they don't release it on the wii u then heelllll
naw

I bought my Wii U because I wanted to support Nintendo and they always give me a nice feeling of enjoyment when I play games like Mario Kart, Zelda, and Mario. When Nintendo releases a new console, I buy it not only for the games, but I buy it because I want to see my favorite video game company succeed.

Dont have one but: I want one for my birthday because i wanna play MK8 with TBT, I am BEGGING my grandma to get one and MK8

Wow, nice combination of words @.@

I'm in minority for sure, but I preordered the Wii U and received it around the week the system launched back in November 19th 2012. I did that, purely because I knew that the library is going to appeal me the best (such as Animal Crossing, Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros., and many more), the Wii U GamePad got me intrigued and I wanted to experience my Nintendo games being displayed much clearer through HDMI.

Mario Kart 8.

Actually, I hadn't been planning to buy a Wii U at all. I was really disappointed in the Wii - especially that damned Wii remote. Even games from my favourite franchises couldn't keep me entertained. I decided to not even look at the Wii U. In fact, the next console I'd been planning to buy was a PS4.

But when I heard MK8 was coming out I instantly wanted to get it, but I didn't know if it would be worth buying a brand new console for. My friends IRL are Microsoft fans, so I went to the Nintendo experts: this forum. ;) Asked a few of my friends on here for game recommendations and looked them up, and I figured I would enjoy more than just MK8 so I bought one.

I'm gonna ask for it for Christmas for the new Zelda title. When I was looking for a copy of Wind Waker a couple of months ago, my brother tried to convince me to get a Wii U, but I couldn't really justify buying a console for one game that I had never even played. I've also heard good things about Earthbound, so that's another game I'd like to pick up.

Honestly, I'm still kind of skeptical. I'm not really big on Mario Kart or the new platformers, but I'll probably wind up getting them for Christmas as well lol. I'd really like to see a Paper Mario game announced for the Wii U sometime. o: I'll probably look more into the upcoming/available games before I ask for it for Christmas.

Windwaker HD is one of the big reasons, and the announcement of MK8 and Smash Bros. I'm excited for Smash Bros atm :)

games. like windwaker, super mario bros U, MK8, smash bros, virtual console, pikmin 3, scribblenauts etc. also for the possibility of there being an ac: wii u release.

WWHD is really nice, but so is Pikmin 3. Choose wisely! :O
Eh, Pikmin 3 really doesn't interest me all that much. There's more choice in my region, and there's some nice games in there, but I really want to play Wind Waker again.

I didn't enjoy Pikmin 3 at all... I played it a couple times and never finished the game, just couldn't get into it.

I got a Wii U the day that Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze came out so that I could play it. I'm a huge fan of the Donkey Kong Country and Donkey Kong Land games, so I had to get this one too, and it's fun, though also difficult. The other three games (or four depending on how you look at it) that I have are New Super Mario Bros. U/New Super Luigi U (it was bundled with my Wii U), Mario Kart 8, and Super Mario 3D World. I also plan to get Super Smash Bros. U when that comes out.

Not meaning to go off-topic, but I've noticed most of you guys on this thread have Super Mario 3D World. It has been a game I've been thinking about for quite a while. Most of the reviews I've seen are either hit or miss, I figured as a last resort, I'd ask you guys. Is it worth picking up?

Who seriously gave it a miss? Super Mario 3D World is one of the best platformers Nintendo has released in years along with Tropical Freeze.

I bought mine last April for 3D World, Mario Kart, and Super Smash Bros. Eventually an Animal Crossing game has to come out for Wii U so just thought I might as well buy one already.
