I've worked in retail at a major electronics store for 8 years. Starting out I was in sales, but I generally hate it and am now in the warehouse/merchandising aspect of it. I feel most accomplished at the end of the day when I've done physical labor so it works for me. It does get pretty menial and repetitive, however, and most days are pretty miserable.
My true passion is filmmaking and luckily over the past year my retail job has been able to work with me as far as getting a small leave of absence so I can work on films in town. Eventually I'd like to be able to support myself just on that. The position I'm in is called a grip and two of the films I've worked on will be coming out next year. It's an exciting thought.
