Hello everyone! I have created this thread to hear all of your opinions as to what it is that makes your town perfect! Maybe it's simply having the villagers deem it so? Or maybe it is based on the villagers, main street, PWP's etc. I would love to know! Will your town ever be perfect? There is so much that can be done and it is often so tedious. For me the making of a perfect town is the design: Paths, houses, flowers etc. I like it all to be themed and consistent in order to make it a real experience for visitors. Although I often feel like it will never be perfect, there is always so much more to do and that I can do and I always want to put a path down but have neither the time or patience to do so. I would love to know how those of you with paths managed to do it without going insane!

Ok enough rambling from me, share your thoughts!

I consider my town perfect when my landscaping is complete. I spend most of my time outdoors working on the landscaping and I really enjoy running around and admiring my hard work. That includes trees and paths in place where I want, villagers placed and house exteriors complete. Usually I don’t worry so much about indoor interiors (usually I barricade rooms that aren’t finished but as long as the landscaping is done my town is technically already presentable to me). Once I’m done with landscaping I can slowly work on completing catalogues and other goals.

That sounds really nice! If you have a dream code, would you mind if I visited? (assuming your town isn't new) You have a lot more patience than me lol. I ideally would like to be able to landscape my town to perfection but can't actually sit down and do it.

I do! Here’s the link 4F00-0148-7A73. Interiors aren’t complete but I’m happy with the landscaping for the most part. I’d say placing patterns down everywhere as place holders is a good way to start planning out permenant tree and pwp locations. I started out by assigning a unique pattern for what would be a tree or a bamboo and then I gradually filled in actual paths and such.

Thank you for the dream address and tips! I will definitely have a go at landscaping my town.

EDIT: Wow I love your town! It is truly inspired and looks amazing. Probably one of the best I have ever seen :) I'm jealous!

That you earn the Perfect Town rating.

I stop there.

Really—the game of “Animal Crossing: New Leaf” is not handled the same by everyone. One may want to focus on the beauty of a town. One may not want that to the focus because, perhaps, one prefers to spend time collecting items to contribute to the town’s museum. One may want to spend one’s time being connected to the town villagers.

It is not the same for everyone.

This is partly why this game, and this site, is such fun. We are not all the same. And we all don’t handle the game the same.

So, I will describe the Perfect Town as having earned the Perfect Town. That is because…the rest is up to you.

Thank you for sharing your insight, I absolutely agree :)

To me, a perfect town is when everything is done up to my standards. That normally means i have 10 villagers in that i like and are in good housing placements that i won't move out. I have placed down all my paths and other qr codes as well as flowers, trees, bushes etc. I have my house fully upgraded and completed as well as every shop unlocked and upgraded on mainstreet. I also will have completed all my PWPs and have finished the museum and completed my encylopedia. It's quite a lot but I'm super picky about it all so still a long time until i consider my town perfect

i dont usually look at dream address's but thought id try it after a long time. wow. just wow. your town is so cool. its different to what i have seen before. no over placement of tiles. just focussed on the beauty of the shrubs and flowers. just lovely. like walking through an enchanted forest :)

Usually when landscaping is finished (will it ever be?), all the PWPs I want are in town, all the shops on main street are open and when all my villagers are dreamies. ☆

^ Thanks for the kind words on my town! Yeah, landscaping can get frustrating at times, especially if you don’t have enough resources at that moment to actually plant everything. It’s gonna look pretty barren and weird at first but it really does pay off! Just stick with it and don’t think too much about comparing your town to others as well, since that can get to your head! Just play at your leisure and whatever makes you enjoy the game most :D It helped that I actually do enjoy the process of trial and error. And I time travel loads since I’m not against that and it helps with moving things forward.

I don't think I've ever considered any of my towns perfect. :( The most I've seem them as is "good enough for now." Sort of like my drawings, I've never considered any of them perfect. I always think it can use improvement or it can look better.

In New Leaf, I'm nowhere near close to "good enough": I have items thrown everywhere, I haven't unlocked enough PWP, I still have some villagers who simply refuse to leave and are taking up valuable space, I haven't filled up my catalog to 100%, I haven't caught all bugs or fishes, I haven't bothered collecting all the badges yet, I haven't set any nice patterns down, I still need to unlock Katrina's shop, and I don't really have a solid plan as to how I want my town to look. I have made a lot of progress through time traveling, just not enough.

I DO, however, already have all the golden tools, I *finally* unlocked the Police Station PWP, I unlocked the final upgrade for the Nookling store, I have all arts in my museum, I have all the fossils in my museum, I've gathered a bunch if bush and tree starts for when I do start constructiong my town, I have all the Brewster items, I finally filled my joke book, I have all the items I wanted the most from my list, I have a lot of good villagers and thanks to plot reset, I can mostly get them to move where I want them to.

It's been hell to get that far and I'm not even close to done yet. I can't imagine what trying to build 2 or more towns would be like. :[

If I did ever manage to get my town to the point of "perfect" that's when I think the game would get dull (or duller since it kind of already is with the watered down personalities and ost) since there wouldn't be anything else left to do other than walk around and after a while admiring your own town gets boring, too.
(At least to me, anyway.)

To me, a complete town or my completed town would be having most, if not all the public works projects unlocked and place the ones I want in my town where I want them, having the landscaping down in every section on my town (after placing my public works projects down first), completing almost all the catalog (can't complete all of it due to some rare items I can't get), caught all the bugs and fish, completing the museum, and unlocking all the shops on main street.

I also would just love to have all ten villagers in my town and anyone can be in it. These days I'm not too picky about who lives in my town, except for Wart Jr. or the gorillas, but if I have them in my town, then that's fine too. I like to get to know new villagers, so like I said, having just all ten villagers in my town would make it complete too. That's about all I can think of at the moment, but that would be considered complete to me. :)

Yes, I tt a lot to. Can't help it, I get too impatient.

I totally agree, as frustrating as towns can get it is better than having a complete town with nothing to do. That's why I have 2 copies. One if for me to make "perfect" and the other is there for me to reset whenever I like and just have fun. The latter is the one I spend more time on.

YES! I hate Wart Jr as well hahaha. Any tips for unlocking all of the pwp's? My villagers hardly ever ping me about one (like in the 8 months I have kept a town (I reset a lot) I have only had 1 pwp request) Is there something that will prompt them? I love completing the museum as well. So satisfying lol.

Yes, I love dreamies as well! They are always changing (I go through phases) but it is super exciting when you get a long wanted dreamie you have never had before.

I don't really share my towns with the outside world, I don't upload Dream Addresses or generally have anyone over other than close friends or people delivering items from shops here on the forums. As such, making a stunning, beautiful and awe-inspiring town isn't important to me.

With that out of the way, what I would consider a "perfect" town for myself would be a town where I:

- Have all of the villagers I want who fit the theme of the town.

- Have as many player characters as fit the individual town's theme/atmosphere/etc. Generally I like to have four player characters per town, but some towns have their own unique aspects where maybe only 1 character is ideal. Depends on the town.

- Have all of the planned Public Works Projects and landscaping work finished, as well as a full Main Street and complete museum.

I would have said completed houses for all of the characters as well, but upon thinking about it that is actually not something I'd want. Having something to look forward to like completing all of the expansions for all of my characters gives me something to look forward to and keep coming back to the game for, so that bit of incompleteness is preferable.

All that said, I don't know that I'd ever find any of my towns to be perfect. There's always going to be some aspect to the town that isn't ideal, like rocks in a bad place. My main town has a pretty bad map, but I don't intend to remake it since I've worked so hard on the town for so long and don't want to do all of that again. Perfection isn't worth chasing though, it doesn't really exist. I'm content with what I have.

Yes, I agree with a of that. All though I have always been an aesthetic person so I kind of want to put the effort into making my town look amazing but don’t find that the fun part (hence why I don’t do it) that’s awesome that you have a town that you are happy with and enjoy playing in. It is important to find the fun in games above anything else. Thanks for sharing!

For me it'll be when all my villager houses are in the spots I want, and I at least LIKE all my villagers (I have some dreamies but don't feel the need for a specific lineup), my exteriors/upgrades are where I want them, and all the landscaping is finished. Landscaping includes PWPs, trees, bushes, and flowers. Interiors are less important since I have a less firm vision for those and it's easy to redecorate and change a room's theme/look than re-landscaping outside, but basically things would look "complete" or at least thought out to a visitor. I think that's when I'd feel ready to move on to the next town.

I?d say placing patterns down everywhere as place holders is a good way to start planning out permenant tree and pwp locations. I started out by assigning a unique pattern for what would be a tree or a bamboo and then I gradually filled in actual paths and such.
I do a similar thing, putting down placeholder QR codes for trees and bushes. It looks ugly before you fill it in but it helps so much with planning. The areas I've finished in my town look great. I need to check out your DA!

Currently I'm trying to find areas, where PWP's can be at, and where paths can be at as well. :3

Ahaha, yeah! Wart Jr. is the worst. :P As for villagers suggesting public works projects, I'd say my best advice is to do is the diving trick and become real best friends with your villagers. I found that having a good friendship with them allowed them to suggest public works projects more frequently, especially everyday. Of course, it also depends on how many you have already unlocked too. I guess once you start unlocking a lot of them, it get's harder for them to suggest.

I also make sure that the villager who suggests the public works project I want is out, so if I have to save and quit a few times to make sure they are out, it helps a lot. If you are not sure which villager personality type suggest what, there is a few guides out there that will help. Gamefaqs is one such guide that it really good for New Leaf. Just google "animal crossing new leaf guide" and it should come up. When you do click on it, make sure you click on the "faq" and not "faq walk through." Then just scroll down the list to public works projects and you should find it. ^-^

My idea of a perfect town is a nicely lanscaped town with all of your favorite Public Works Projects. My perfect town would also have all of my favorite villagers too!
