What is your biggest gaming pet peeves?

if I could remove all time trials from games, I would. I hate the stress of it, because I know I can get through it just fine at my own pace. But something in my brain just clicks and I get freaked out and panic with the ticking of the clock.

When the devs end the game on a cliffhanger (or otherwise leave the story unfinished in an unsatisfying way) and then just never give the game a sequel or anything. Knowing that I'll likely never get closure kinda sours the experience of certain games for me.

When a game only allows you to save at certain physical points. This is a very archaic feature and I can not believe it still exists in games today.
I'd assume it has to do with coding and saving files so they don't break but yeah I agree.

Also braindead endgame grind quests. I get they want you to feel accomplished by getting that one rare class but honestly come on, 17500 tokens, 888 dragon teeth etc. for some damn quest no thanks.

Oh boy, I've got a few of these.

Menus that take too long to navigate, or have little animations that slow you down.
Unskippable cutscenes, especially ones that repeat.
Dialogue that can't be sped up.
Games that are always online despite having optional online content I won't use.
Long, arbitrary dialogue in games that don't need it (and sometimes in games that do need it).
Games that explain the same thing over and over again, like it's for babies. Damn you Dragon Quest Builders 2...
Expensive DLC with too little content for the money.
Voice chat that you can't mute, and chat windows you can't hide.
Grinding for little payoff.

There's probably more but I'll stop here before I get salted.

Long loading screens. ACNH bothers me so much because I find the loading screens to be too long for me.

Another thing is sticky controller buttons, or just controllers that don't work. You end up having to dig through tangled controller cords and take the time to find a working controller or buy new batteries if you run out.

The list would be long but you asked for the biggest so here is a top 3:

Games that are difficult not because the obstacles are well-designed but because the controls are poor
Games that manage to crash a lot on a normal, well-performing and updated systems
Microtransactions

I kind of hate when I'm streaming and someone who hasn't even played the game starts backseating me. I never get upset or tell them off but it really ruins my enjoyment. Backseating in general sucks but from someone who doesn't even know what they're talking about is just so much worse lol.

"corridors"
ever since someone made me aware of this "hack" I cannot stand them. Final Fantasy 7 is the worst offender in this. having corridors everywhere simply to be able to load the next part of the gameworld without needing a loading screen. because slowly shuffling through a small crawlspace or narrow passage really feels so much better. making your character a virtual loading bar. great.
Stuff like this makes me wanna see what the PS5 is really capable of. I wonder if it can actually get rid of those, like they claim it can. then again, only in PS5 exclusives because Xbox series X is much slower on that front

too many of the same challenges in order to platinum games on PS3/PS4. This is like filler content and artificially inflates how long to complete a game, spiderman was especially guilty of this and even though the story/combat was kind of okay, it was definitely one of the more disappointing games i played :(

Games that are online only with no offline modes. It just bugs me that one day the game could be shut down one day and you'll never able to play it again. This is one reason I don't play a lot of mobile apps (well that and microtransactions).

•Timed missions, esp when going fast and never messing up is the only way to complete the mission
•Escort missions cause you usually play with such dumb NPCs who can't defend themselves and rush out to meet their demise. Like, can you not?
•TIMED escort missions
•Stupid NPCs
•Framerate drops
•When I can't pet or give food to an animal (this one is kinda jokey but also kinda not)
•I haven't seen this one yet (or maybe I skipped it) but lack of customization when the game allows you to customize stuff. Like, lets say hair colour. There will be missing hair colours or the options they give you just aren't right. Also on the topic of it still, when you have multiple options and none of them appeal to you. That almost feels worse, cause the creators tried to add variety but none of them still look all that good.

Slow loading screens
Repetitive loading screens
Lag
Chunk errors
Horror games that aren't actually scary
Horror games with really bad jumpscares
Making me redo something I've already done before
Misguiding me through the game (meaning, if I'm confused on where to go in a game and I end up at the NEXT place after where I'm supposed to go, or back to where I started, that's annoying af)
--But perhaps that ^ is my fault so I could just say hard-to-explain directions or unhelpful directions

Messed up spawn rate/too many big/fish etc. active at once like ACNH. Like, you did not need to have like 10 pond fish active at the same timeframes/seasons sigh.

Also barreleye/ranchu fish.. please ninty
