I've tried a couple and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong!! Does anyone have any tried and true placements for growing hybrids??
Anything is fine.

This has been my most successful pattern for hybridding. I usually get 3-4 flowers a day (unless it rained the day before) using this layout. Good luck !!!

This area is where I try to breed blue roses. Where I'm standing is the place I bury the fertilizer. I got 3 hybrids from here this morning though most of them were red (red roses from hybrid reds are basically useless save for decoration)
Don't mind Gulliver, he just picked a nice spot to sleep![]()
Silly Gulliver! And I'm only getting 2 every couple days! I'll just keep trying. Does the rain have any side effects on hybrid growing?
It does! If it rains, you probably will not get any hybrids in your diamond the next day (and if you do, you'll only get 1). I also recommend time travelling whilst hybrid growing to make it more efficient if you are okay with that, because as you play the game throughout the day your villagers will probably be watering other flowers in your town, which lessens the possibility of getting the maximum amount of hybrids in the diamond.
Since you mentioned you were growing orange and pink flowers, I'd just like to point out that even using the diamond, flowers such as pink tulips and cosmos are still quite hard to grow (for me, at least) as they always have a chance of reproducing white, red, and black tulips/cosmos as well as pink. Also in my experience, yellow + black tulips have an almost 100% success rate for orange tulips and black + orange cosmos have a pretty high rate for orange cosmos too (although I do get some black cosmos sometimes). I'm not too sure about the other flower types but I hope this helps!
The color placement is also important. White should never be touching yellow, as this will always result in more white and yellow. Yellow touching yellow should also be avoided.
I'm trying to breed pink tulips, so is it logical that I'm just using pink tulips and fertilizer to grow more pinks? I get red and white's occasionally, but is what I'm doing correct?
Red and white will give you pink alot quicker than pink + pink. ^_^
Use fertilzer!
