Help wanted to start!

Hey there, fellow UK amiibo card collector here! I will admit you have joined at a bit of a tricky time in terms of obtaining cards from official sources- the main one being the online Nintendo Store, currently the only amiibo cards in stock are Sanrio and Series 5 (the latter containing all new villagers that came with New Horizons). So I would say that would be your best bet starting there. I suggest only buy the Sanrio pack if you're into the brand or you want to eventually have a full amiibo collection, otherwise just stick with buying some Series 5 packs. Some things to note: the regular packs are £3.49 each, and I am unsure if Nintendo are still limiting the number of them you can purchase.
I'm praying that Nintendo does a cheeky reprint of all Series packs around the time of or a little while after the 3.0 update.
With that being said, if you receive multiple of the same card from these packs also gives you a bit of a leg up because then you'll also be able to trade those cards depending on if there are people who are in need of them. There are other places for the amiibo trading scene (such as Reddit), and I have no doubt that the forums may see a boost in activity once the 3.0 update comes out.
Your next option, and I advise to take caution especially since you're starting out, is eBay. I heavily emphasize on taking caution because there are some sellers on there who do not sell authentic cards (fakes, or homemade nfc cards that do function the same but are not official amiibo cards), or the prices for certain amiibo cards are quite expensive depending on the character's popularity. Now, the only reason I'll bring up eBay with regards to starting out is because there are also plenty of cards of characters who aren't sought after/popular going for quite cheap, so they'll be an easy addition to a new or growing collection.
Also! I do have some spare cards left I haven't traded away yet but you are free to shoot me a DM and I'll be happy to talk about potentially giving you a few!! ^_^
