What is on the back of Midge’s head?

I am planning on moving Midge onto my island, but I had to stop and stare at the back of her head. What exactly is it supposed to be?

It looks like the counterpart of an egg — you know what I mean.

Honestly, I still think Midge is the best normal-type for my village, but I have many a question about this design choice. What do you guys think it looks like, or was otherwise meant to be?

hhng i’m not exactly sure but it kinda reminds me of the feathers on the back of parrot’s heads

i don’t think she’s based off of a parrot, though, so maybe it’s supposed to be feathers in general? ;u;

In Happy Home Designer she asks for a hair salon... my guess is she's not the best at doing her own hair back there, or maybe some modern new look.

It doesn't look bad to me... just a little curl. Looks like her crest feathers.

I always assumed it was a feather / bunch of feathers.
