your map is pretty cool, i like your giant beach. i don't like private beaches, i had one in my first town and i couldn't get to gulliver since i didn't have the wet suit. i look for a map with little ponds, straight river, and lots of usable land (land that isn't narrow)
unfortunately, i used a map with a bad river.
I look for a map with a cool river but not with super narrow land on one side of it. Yours is pretty good If the left side were any narrower though it would've been a little inconvenient. PRetty perfect though
Unfortunately, my town map is terribleeee. I have like two sections of super narrow, pretty much unusable land. >n<
I like simple river that splits my town in 2 pretty even parts with no narrow pieces of land, because I find myself being unable to use them properly except for random trees of flowers. And of course how many rocks I got, I got 8 currently, a bit too many for my liking but its ok. And I only like 1 pond in my town.
I got a jewel of a town in 3rd reset, plaza central, retail to the right of it and blue town hall on the left. With just 1 pond too.
I don't really care about native fruit though I'm not a big fan of oranges, sorry oranges fans out there ^^'
And all grass if fine.
- Position of the Plaza ( I love it in the center of the map )
- Position of Re-Tail ( near Train Station if possible )
- The way the river twists & turns about your town ( I want more land than water )
- Town starter fruit ( I always look for apples - anything else = no nonono )
A lot of people complain that the maps are too small or leave them without enough room for PWPs, but I think they're perfect. Personally I don't intend on building a lot of large PWPs, so that could be a factor. For me, a good map is one you simply like the layout of. Everyone has a preference here from amount of land, to number of ponds, to the way the river bends, fruit type, and even grass shape.
I love town maps with a long and twisty river. I also like it if the plaza is in the centre. It may sound odd, but I don't like it if the river pool is where the river changes its direction (don't know how to explain it in a better way).
A "good map" is a map that has features that you like! Everyone values different things when it comes to maps, though some features are more popular than others. For example, a lot of people like Re-Tail close to the train station or the dock.
I chose the map I did because Re-Tail was close to the train station, the town hall and town sq were next to each other, and the river split my town pretty evenly in two. I wasn't paying attention to the beach so much when I picked my map, but I'm glad I don't have a split beach (though some people prefer those). I just have one big beach and a tiny patch that can only be reached with a wet suit. Another thing I didn't really pay attention to when I started was the ponds, I have a buttload of them. I think I really only hate where one of them is, though (I have this gross pond x rock combo right at my train station that I'm still trying to figure out how to landscape around well).
