But he didn't go across the Roman Empire, he stopped right at it.
what no? the Mongols attacked the roman empire, which contributed to its downfall. Mongol attacks forced Germanic ppl to flee inside the empire, then they started attacking as well.
Genghis Khan's children =/= him.

There were also a lot more important causes to the downfall.

The more important causes are political corruption, economic problems, and a seriesof poor leaders.
true, but mostly was that Western Roman empire never had as good of a military as before, patriotism declined cuz of mercenaries being hired. The Romans never faced as big of an attack as from the Mongols, which mostly contributed to its fall, more than the internal problems.
It still took hundreds of years and disease also played a big part. Genghis Khan did not take the Roman Empire.

yeah, i know. my mistake. the Mongols attacked, (not Genghis, i think) but the Germanic leader, Odoacer overtook the last roman emperor which is the point of its "fall"

When you're taught something in school, they want you to think a certain way. Such as..they WANT you to think that Lincoln was a great president. Now, shouldn't we all be able to infer things ourselves and formulate our own opinion on the person? Sure he did some great things, but they only tell us the great things so we think greatly of them. And yeah, sometimes what you're taught is based off your teacher's opinions, so what you learn isn't all completely true.

Hey did some great things? Some great horrible things. :veryhappy:

OK, he was a great self-made lawyer and must have been a smart man... unfortunately he decided to go into politics. And the country was destroyed...

Wait...I thought because of his course of Actions and his decisions in the Civil War, Lincoln was intent on "Preserving the Union" and opposing the Dredd Scott Case. What did Lincoln do wrong?

*EDIT: Oooh...you probably mean Reconstruction? Well the South was laid in ruins after the war, and Lincoln's Plan for Reconstruction was meant to help rebuild the south and eventually have them re-joined with the North. Lincoln's Plan was later corrupted after he was assassinated, and lead to that Horrid Jim Crow System. Lincoln (at the time) was right in what he was doing, and at least he was a WAY better presidential candidate than Douglas.

I actually like History, In the UK we're taught everything, from Hitler to 9/11 and according to my teacher my school has some of the most accurate information in our textbooks.

Erm... not exactly...

Preserving a government system over the southern states was more important than the lives of 600 thousand Americans?

Write letters to your school board. Try to get more recent or more accurate textbooks in your classes. It always annoyed me too.
It seems to be a bunch of politically correct nonsense that doesn't teach you a damn thing about history.
Screw the school board. Let the school die while you go to some other better school

Don't worry guys, I had a professional translate this.

[4:12:39 PM] Prez says: "you are anusing"
[4:12:45 PM] Prez says: First three words
[4:12:57 PM] John says: I see.
[4:13:02 PM] John says: Good thing Prez knows German.
[4:13:15 PM] Prez says: After that there's the "Fresh Rupulsion"
[4:13:34 PM] Prez says: Followed by the American Interdance
[4:13:46 PM] Prez says: Slightly like Squaredance, but slower
[4:13:50 PM] John says: I see.
[4:14:44 PM] John says: But what is GCSE?
[4:15:09 PM] Prez says: Pokemon Gold Crystal Silver, and Emerald
[4:15:21 PM] John says: But of course.
[4:15:27 PM] John says: Thank you for your time doctor.
[4:15:30 PM] Prez says: They played a great role in the Repulsion

So there you have it. After anusing, the makers of Pokemon created a fresh wave of repulsion among Americans that led to a slow dance similar to the squaredance.
