What happens when villagers talk to each other?

I'm trying to keep my villagers houses and clothes intact, but I know they can give their clothes to other villagers when they talk to each other. I'm wondering what else could happen when they do it. Can you guys tell me, please?

Nothing. They just have a conversation and that's it.

In Wild World (probably Let's Go To The City too) it could change their emotions and in the Gamecube and N64 version I don't think they could talk to each other at all.

Ok, so other than clothes, they no not exchange forniture or anything that they could put on their houses, right?

Well by observations i made in many conversations i witnessed, they do reveal connections and relationships between the villagers.
I got to know the Teddy has a negative relatiomship with Puck and Pheobe has a positive relationship with almost everyone in my town. But i never saw a conversation that included Julian, Pietro, and Ruby.

Along with clothing, their catchphrases can be changed too. It can be irritating if you want everyone to have their own unique phrase

I thought they just had a conversation, but can they really copy catch phrases?!

I think if villagers have a conversation nearby and you miss it, that's usually when they exchange phrases or shirts. or one/both of them will walk off pissed off/happy/sad. but if you happen to see it and join in, theyll talk about something else and won't exchange anything.

At least that's from my experience.

Yeah I think that's how it works. In my experience, I'd see 2 villagers have a conversation (for example Chief and Rosie) and they'd walk off happy. Later, I talk to, using my example here, Chief and his catchphrase is now 'silly'. But it wasn't like that before the conversation. Things like that had happened to me before and that's why I assume they can copy catchphrases

clothing and catchphrase are the only thing that can be changed if villagers decide to have a conversation. i once missed a convo between wolfgang and ankha. wolfgang suddenly got angry and ankha just resumed to what she was doing. i wonder what ankha said to wolfgang to make him angry lol.

hahaha i always wonder this! it's especially kind of amusing if one walks away happy and the other angry.[depending on which villagers]

once i noticed hans (my least favorite villager) made wolfgang sad which ive never ever seen a cranky sad before. i wanted to punch hans in the face.

I don't think the conversations trigger any actual furniture swapping, but I've definitely seen pieces of furniture being passed around the villagers and ending with me or in Re-Tail.

I love catching their conversations as they're more personalised and show the villagers actually have a life. :D

I've had them exchange things when I've been there too. Also, when I've delivered them presents they open it in front of me and usually if it's a piec of clothing they like they will change into it straight away.
Not seen them give each other furniture as presents yet so not sure if they would also appear in their house.
It's a real problem when you want to keep them as original as possible
