I find trying new foods to be very interesting! When I travel especially I always love to try new things!

Tonight I tried nasturtiums for the first time. They’re an edible flower. They were very interesting! The petals didn’t have much flavor, just a light floral note, but there was a little cone-like part (I don’t know the names of flower parts lol) that was very sweet, and there must have been nectar in there! Then the center frilly bits where the pollen is as well as the stems were almost spicy, but in a unique way not quite the same as chili spiciness. All around a neat experience, and would eat them again! Plus it looked very pretty as part of the plate decoration!

What food have you recently tried for the first time? Did you like it, and would you eat it again?

The fruit dates. It's crazy, basically eating a natural, caramel candy. They've lots of health pluses too, going to eat them more.

Dates are very interesting, a lot of dessert recipes I’ve seen use them as a somewhat healthier alternative to sugar for sweetening stuff!

Not exactly recent, but a couple of months ago I tried scallops for the first time. And unfortunately, I wasn't a fan, haha. I probably won't be having them again anytime soon.

This happened back in July, but the last new food I tried was dragonfruit! I'd always wanted to try it, and I thought it was pretty good! It wasn't as flavourful as I expected, but it was still refreshing! The texture was similar to a kiwi imo. I don't think I'll go out of my way to have it again, but I'll definitely eat it if the opportunity arises!

I'm not very adventurous when it comes to trying new foods because of my emetophobia and fear of getting food poisoning. When I'm paying for food, I also prefer to get something I'm confident I'll like opposed to something I'm not sure of. I still enjoy trying new foods when I feel comfortable doing so, though!

Spicy chicken feet. It was good but since it was not the original thing, (meaning from an authentic restaurant for instance). I don't know if it's supposed to taste even better. Also green radish, reminds me a bit of daikon.

I tried gulab jamun (Indian milk donuts) not too long ago. They're small donut-like treats that are rich and chewy. They were so good I went back up at a buffet and ate more.

Beef cheeks. Was a marks and Spencer's ready meal. Tasted ok.

a lions mane mushroom steak! ppl say it's so good for ur brain to improve anxiety and memory loss so ig i rly need to be eating these daily now ??? LOL

I never try new foods thanks to sensory issues, but a few weeks ago I tried coconut ice cream for the first time, it was surprisingly good! A big surprise too since aside from coconut I've only ever really liked two other flavours lol. Anyone should def try it if they haven't yet!

I had chin chin for the first time recently! A friend of mine brought some in for lunch to share. It's a fried Nigerian snack, and it's pretty tasty.

Another friend brought in a persimmon! She didn't know what it was called in English, but because of Animal Crossing fruit trees, I knew what it's name was lol. Educational game fr. It was so good, I would definitely try it again.

I bought some coffee wafers in a polish shop, they were so good 😭

Tried some Dubai chocolate for the first time today. I knew it had pistachio in it, but since I love both chocolate and pistachio, I thought it was delicious! I enjoyed the contrast of flavors.

Spicy crawfish and several French snacks that I forgot the name. It was like crackers with cheese in the middle, I like it.

I had two (technically four?) different flavours of oreo today! One was blueberry and raspberry, and the other was peach and grape. They were both tasty, and I love the way the flavoured cream is split half-and-half on the biscuit so you can try both flavours separately. My favourite was the blueberry and raspberry, and of those two flavours, blueberry was the nicest

My local chinese place's sesame noodles! They were a little bland, but weirdly enough it was really, really addicting ... my mother and I doctored them up and added some srrachia and before I knew it my bowl was empty. I love cold noodles ...

So it wasn't that recently that I tried it, more like late last year, but the last food I genuinely tried for the first time was rosé cheese topokki. This is Korean rice cakes in a spicy cheese sauce that I found in a Marshall's. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was so good! The texture of the rice cakes was very satisfying to chew, and the sauce was savory and spicy without being too spicy. I liked it so much I went out of my way to look for it every time I went out from then on.
