About six months ago, my brother gifted me his old PS4. We've played a bit of Destiny 2 together, and I took my fianc? through the land of Skyrim, web-slung through the Manhattan in Spider-Man, defeated the beasts from Shadow of the Colossus, but mostly I use it to play MLB: the Show or watch Netflix.

I have a big stack of games that he sent and recommended, including the following:
Witcher 3
Bloodborne
The Last of Us
Batman: Arkham Knight

Despite having them for half a year at this point, I haven't even started any of them. What games do you have that you haven't given fair due to just yet, and what order should I tackle my backlog?

Oof my backlog is bigger than I'd like! For my 3DS I have yet to pick up my copy of Pokemon Sun (I've been working on Pokemon X and Alpha Sapphire), Super Mario 3D Land, Link Between Worlds, Luigi's Mansion, and Majora's Mask.
For the Wii: Mario Galaxy, Okami, Zelda: Skyward Sword (got stuck at the first boss and haven't tried since lol), Super Paper Mario, Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon, and Lego Harry Potter.

I've also been debating about getting a PS4 (I've never had a PlayStation before), but I just got a Switch for Christmas, so I'm thinking of waiting until late this year or next year to pick one up. I also don't want to add more games to my backlog and feel overwhelmed. I've heard great things about the games you listed, so sorry I can't help you decide!

Mines pretty terrible. I'll only mention games I actually intended to get around to and get back to. There's a lot I just stopped playing because they're crap or never started playing because I didn't want them but they were free.

Starting out small, I've only one game on PS4 that I haven't finished. Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Eyes of Heaven. It's a fantastic 'fan service game' but like the vast majority of anime based games, it's friggin' awful. I hate everything about the gameplay enough that I can't bring myself to finish it despite hearing the story is pretty neat for it...My PS4 has been nothing but a glorified bluray player for the past who knows how long, so I probably won't finish it any time soon.

Switch:
- Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate. I did all the low/high rank stuff on the 3DS, so I guess I've half finished the game. I know how many hours I can pump into a Monster Hunter game though and I've just not had the time for it.
- Breath of the Wild. I just don't have much interest in it. I was just playing it when I had nothing else to play, but I stopped even doing that. I intend to finish it at some point because it's a Zelda game (in title alone I would argue), I just don't have the interest in yet another open world game right now.
- Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Played for like 2 hours but that's about it. I just had it sitting around for ages and tried to give it a go, but I've just not had the time to dedicate to a single game (knowing how long the Xenoblade games are...).
- Fire Emblem Warriors. I've actually finished the main campaign, I've just yet to get around to doing the 'adventure maps'. I really want to unlock Lyn.
- Hyrule Warriors. Had and finished it on Wii U, so I'm in no rush to pour time into it.
- Dragons Dogma Dark Arisen. Yea, it's not out yet, but I'm guaranteed to buy it and I'm guaranteed not to play it. Such a fantastic game, I just know I'll probably find it hard to find the time for it again though.
- Mario Tennis Aces. I don't even know why I bought it honestly.
- Valkyria Chronicles. Time.
- A ton of indie games that again, not sure why I bought...Probably trying to justify buying the Switch by buying anything that looked remotely playable (I'm still not sold on the Switch).

3DS:
- Fire Emblem Birthright, Conquest and Echoes. I just bought them and haven't had the time.
- Bravely Default + Bravely Second. Again, time.
- Pokemon Sun. I kinda just wasn't enjoying it. First Pokemon game I can say I've had absolutely no interest in. I keep meaning to get back to and give it a second chance it but it's just finding the motivation to pick up a game I thought was pretty crappy.
- Majora's Mask 3D. I've had this since release and I've done the first temple. I've just never gotten back around to it even though I definitely intend to.
- Metroid Samus Returns. I kinda just forgot I had it until now.
- A couple other games that I can't remember but they're on the shelf.

Wii:
- Mario Galaxy 2. Bought it, never gotten around to it.
- Skyward Sword. The unfinished state for this one wasn't actually my fault here. I tried playing it quite a few times and the low resolution fuzzy/blurry image/text gave me pretty bad migraines every time I tried. I do find Wii games to be at a low enough resolution that they're a bit unpleasent to look at because of it, but for whatever reason Skyward Sword is the only game I've played that actually hurt to play because of it. (and this, people who whine about remasters/rereleases, is why they're needed). I really want to play this one but I'll probably only be able to if it gets a rerelease or I get the Wiimote/motion sensor working through an emulator.

PC:
Even if I ignore all the games I didn't want but got for free or as part of a bundle, I'm still looking at at least 100 games I've not even touched but actually wanted here.

I'm pretty much at a point where I'm simply not going to catch up and should just start writing some purchases off as wasted investments.

Mines pretty bad

DS
Pokemon HeartGold

3DS
Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time
Kirby Planet Robobot
Just about every Pokemon game I have I need to get some legendaries in

PS3
Play Driver San Francisco
Dirt Rally Career Mode
MotoGP career mode

Xbox360
Forza Motorsport 2
F1 2013 career mode

NES and SNES classics
I don't want to talk about it

I know it’s foolish but I buy every version of main series Pok?mon games. So far I’ve beat 3/4 gen 8 games but.... I still need to get the shiny charm, breed a team for Ultra Moon, beat the story then collect every form and gender difference like I had planned for years. :/

Other than that I got about 20 unplayed Switch games. The majority of them being digital. (Can’t resist a good sale)

Ni No Kuni for DS, as well as some of the tongari boushi games that didn't get an english release. Maybe 4 games in total?

Mine isn't that bad. My list of games that I should buy is constantly growing, but once I actually buy a game I'm usually pretty good at finishing it. There's only 3 games that I can think of atm that I've put off.
World of Final Fantasy Maxima. I got this back in November, got about halfway through it, and then just kinda lost interest. It's an okay game but meh (it also didn't help that the Switch port of it is pretty bad).
Metroid: Samus Returns. Not actually my fault, my 3DS' battery is terrible now and decides to shut off at random times. I need to buy a replacement, I just haven't yet. Wait I just remembered that both the Old and New 3DS XL's use the same battery, maybe I'll nab the battery from my Old one and use it in my New one as a temporary replacement...
Devil May Cry. ...I absolutely suck at this game. Coming from Bayonetta, I feel so limited in what I can do in the game and it just doesn't feel very fun. It's the Trilogy version so I've been thinking about maybe skipping over to 3 and seeing if I click with that one better than the first? It's worth a try.

And after typing all of this out, I remembered I put off Octopath Traveler too. I need to do more grinding for the final boss, and even though I love the game I'm really not in the mood to do that right now :p

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
I still haven't found all the korok seeds (I'm at 880/900 and refuse to use a guide RIP) or finished the final Master Sword challenge. Haven't touched the game in months so I don't know if I'll ever get around to complete it at this point.

Earthbound
I've heard a lot of good things about this game. Still haven't played it after all these years. Some day though, some day.

That's the ones I could think of right now. I recently tried Startropics, a game that used to be on my backlog list, but I honestly didn't like it. Probably won't go back to it.

The difficulty spike can be a bit offputting but it is quite doable with the right strats.

Saw the thread, so I thought I would show how much progress I've made on my backlog.

Switch:
Still not finished
- Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate.
- Breath of the Wild.
- Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
- Fire Emblem Warriors.
- Hyrule Warriors.
- Dragons Dogma Dark Arisen (but it's pretty much the only game I've been playing, so there is that)
- Mario Tennis Aces Sold it
- Valkyria Chronicles.
- Wargroove

New arrivals
- Crash Team Racing
- Castlevania Collection (though to be fair, they're all games I've finished before)
- Sonic Mania
- Slain
- Crypt of the Necrodancer
- Dragon Marked for Death
- Hollow Knight
- Iconoclasts
- Katana Zero
- Momodora
- Ace Attourny Trilogy

3DS
- All the same ones as last time
- Donkey Kong Country Returns. Tried playing it on Wii, hated it because of the controls, finally found it at a decent price on 3DS but lets be honest, I won't be playing it.

PC
- I've not touched my PC for gaming since then, so nothing has changed.
- But I am subscribed to Humble Monthly, so add about 30 new games.

As you can see, my progress in defeating my backlog is going well....

Update many months later since I'm locked inside without much to do. I finished Samus Returns and DMC not long after making this post. In the last few weeks, I've completed Zelda: Oracle of Seasons and Octopath. I'm now going back to my Hypermode Metroid Prime file and I'm almost done with that as well! I've already finished the Prime trilogy years ago, but I wanted to go back and redo the games on the hardest difficulty. Already finished Prime 3 and idk if I'm in the mood to go through Prime 2 again.
Forgot about World of FF but ehhhhhhh, I'd have to be really bored to go back to that.

and u were there for 3 hours to hear me suffer through it :lemon::lemon::lemon::lemon::lemon::lemon:

I definitely recommend shadows of valentia and persona 3 portable! Those are one of my favourite games of all time!
As for my backlog I also have quite a few pc games that I started some time ago and for some reason can't finish. I was close to an end with Senua's sacrifice but I got stuck on some mobs that keept killing me and I just gave up hahah...

I have about 400-500 games on PC I would like to give a try/play through at some point on Steam. Plus a few on Switch like Dragon Quest XI, Diablo 3, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Rune Factory 4. Trouble is I see too many things I feel like I'd like to play, but I don't end up having time, or rather I got too engrossed in one game for several years, so my backlog built up massively.

my gaming backlog is a mess at this point. i usually vow to myself that i will only allow myself to buy a new game after i finished the one i previously bought, but me, being me, i really don't stick to it and just give in before i find something new. my backlog for the switch includes octopath traveller (i'm almost done, wth), dark souls (left that in another country, whoopsie), splatoon 2, lost sphere, let's go eevee (actually, i'm not gonna bother) & fire emblem three houses (i literally just need to finish up crimson flower and i should be gucci).

as for my steam library, i've sinned during the last summer sale and bought so many games i just want to try out. i can guarantee that they're like, at least 60 games i have yet to even play for the first time and me - being me, yet again - i have to crunch myself through not only ace attorney but also through the entire zero escape series and two whole danganronpa games, among others. oh, what would i give to tell my past self to not buy that many games because they all were dirt cheap.

These are all great VN's but please don't burn yourself out and try to do all of these back-to-back. ;_;
...except I want to be a terrible influence and you should look into AI: The Somnium Files as well it's really good I promise

Switch:
Dragon Quest XIV
Dragon Quest Builders 2
Dragon Quest Builders
Project Diva Mega Mix (but to be fair, it's brand new and I just got it today)
Star Wars Pinball
Zen Studios FX3 Pinball
Hyrule Warriors (completed the first big storyline on my Wii U)
Undertale (need to do the true endings)
Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate
Sushi Strikers
Fate/Extella Link
Arcade Pac (for at least Galaga, my favorite arcade game)
Songbird Seranade
Little Dragons Cafe
Yoshi's Crafted World
Bravely Default 2 Demo
Cat Quest
Super Luckys Tale
Bayonetta 1 and 2
Liar Princess and the Blind Prince
Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore
Luigi's Mansion 3
Stardew Valley (at least complete up to year 3)
Atelier Lulula
Final Fantasy IX
Pokemon Let's Go Eevee
Pokemon Shield (have to do all the post-quest things)
Fire Emblem Three Houses

Playstation:
Horizon Zero Dawn
Tomb Raider (pick a Tomb Raider and I've either played it or have it and need to play it since it is my first gaming love)
Project Diva Arcade Future Tone (still haven't played through all of the songs, I keep getting distracted by my favorites)
Senran Kagura Peach Beach Splash
Final Fantasy 15 (at least catch up on story)

Computer:
I still need to 100% Cinders
Monster Prom
Monster Prom 2
Gentlemen's Sexy Business
I have a bunch of dating sims and visual novels I haven't touched yet!
Just for the sake of my sanity, we aren't going to talk about my epic Sims 2 project yet, but it is technically in my backlog

I tend to just play one game at a time and right now that is mostly Animal Crossing.

Edit: oh yeah! One of my friends is giving me Rune Factory 4, but I don't have it in my hands yet so I didn't count it.

With Animal Crossing, all my other Switch games took the backseat. I still have to finish Link's Awakening, Fire Emblem, Professor Layton and Mystery Dungeon. And I can also spend like another 200 hours just doing quests in Breath of the Wild I assume. But I haven't played any of them recently. I only played Slay the Spire for a little variety, but I don't like the new character and before that I only needed to 100% my save file.
