So, I have a villager in boxes that someone on tumblr wants. I'd like to give it to them. But tumblr confuses me... what is the ask button? Is it like an inbox?

Sorry, I feel like I'm showing my age when I ask questions like this, but he/she has been looking for this dreamie for a while and well, I have them so, it would be nice to do for them.

Any insight appreciated!

on Tumblr you have your own askbox thing. when you keep it on you are enabling others to send messages to you, and you may respond to them. Have you ever seen the "ask me a question" thing on some blogs? That's what they mean -w-

You need to go in your settings (which is the one on the top of your dashboard that looks like a screw) and click on your blog on the left side to bring up the settings for the blog. Then in the section titled "Ask" make sure the box is selected that says "Let people ask questions" and if you want people to be able to send you messages anonymously, select the box that says "allow anonymous questions".

If you're looking for the ask on someone else's page (to send them a message), like tsundere said above, just add "/ask" to the end of their url. But make sure you're on the first page of their blog i.e. it doesn't say /page/2 after the url.

Also, when they reply to you, if they do it privately it will show up in your inbox. Your inbox is the envelope symbol at the top of your dash, near the settings symbol. They can also reply publicly, which will have their reply show up as a post on their blog. So make sure to check their blog if you don't seem to be getting a reply in your inbox.
