Hey everyone! So I thought of making a new town in the memory of my favorite show, Merlin, but I'm not sure if I should follow through. My town will be created to be Camelot or a place in King Arthur's time..but I can't decide on the town name. Also, being that Camelot has a castle, I guess I would have to use the fairytale theme for the town hall and train station...but I really don't like that they are so colorful. King Arthur's castle is not colorful! I am thinking of naming my 4 people (Merlin, Arthur, Gwen, and maybe Morgana). But I'm not sure of the last one yet. Maybe I will just name my mayor Jasam since that is my name, but it doesn't go with the theme...

A part of me believe that I can pull the theme off, but there is that doubt coz there are so many decisions to make :-/ What do you think? Any comments or suggestions?

I'd lose the Merlin show theme and just go with an overall Camelot theme. I think that would give you a lot more creative freedom. Other than that, yeah, go for it. Oh, and one more thing: Guinevere isn't spelled the same as the modern day names Gwendolyn or Gwyneth cause it was derived from the language of the Celtics. Either Irish or Scottish Gaelic, Welsh, or some form of Pictish. Idk which, though.

Sounds like a fun theme, and the game has a lot of items that would fit that theme. You can always make a characters castle and use different exteriors so you get the look you want. As for the other buildings, you could leave them the way they already look. That way you wouldn't feel like you have to do the fairy tale theme.

I think your biggest concern is as you mentioned is the color of the fairy tale theme on the train station and town hall. I really think that would remove the quality of the theme. You could definitely have one or more of your houses have a castle exterior and fill the place with armored knights, a throne, display case, etc. You're better off using a different theme for the train station and town hall. Before you start you should really draw out ideas because the amount of time and effort required to earn PWP and themes is cumbersome.

Yeah, I know that they spell it Guinevere but I figured "Gwen" for short because Guinevere might be too long.. I do like the Camelot idea, but what to name the town?! Camelot, Albion, Citadel? Lol I have no creative juices in me right now. I just woke up!

That does sound like a good idea! :-) Yeah, the fairy tale theme is just too colorful for Camelot...don't you think?

You're right. That's why I am running it with you guys, so I can see if my ideas are any good. Talking things out to people help me figure if it's a decision worth carrying on. I don't want to regret this...I have a second town I recently just started that I am resetting to make this Camelot theme.. I really like its map but the name doesn't go with it (Arcadia) so I am gonna let it go.

Sounds like a great idea! I did something similar with my hubby's town when he was still playing, since he wanted to be King. I didn't really finish it, but I got a few things down that we liked. I don't know if his dream is still active, but he'll be Frank from Sprigal if you want to look it up.

As for PWPs, the classic town hall and train station would fit the theme- but if you really did want to change them, I'd probably suggest the Japanese style. As for other items, the water pump, windmill, and well are good choices. A fountain can work well too if you want to build up a courtyard sort of thing around your mayor's house. Or maybe have a garden, with hybrids and a trellis/flower arch and Leif's topiary projects. Put in a hammock or a log bench in a tree-filled area for those lazy peasants! A fire pit would fit nicely into the theme. Just make sure before you burn any witches that they weigh the same as a duck... wait. Be wary of your duck villagers. They're totally witches in disguise!

In his town, I kept it natural and rustic. You can definitely use paths to your advantage here, with stone or wood. I made a moat around his castle, and he loved it. You can have your villager houses- if you feel like plot resetting- centered around Re-Tail and have them be your village and town center, complete with a marketplace. With your other characters' houses, maybe you can have them themed like shops? An armor shop or blacksmith might be cool to see!

I definitely look forward to seeing your town as it progresses, should you decide to follow this theme!

Oh, right. I'd just spell it Guin then. Maybe call her Lady Guin if you have enough room, and personally I'd go with either Camelot or Avalon for a town name.

I seriously just typed out a long comment and it didn't post -_-" I'll try covering everything I wanted to say again..

Thank you for your reply! I just dreamed of your husband's town, Sprigal. Yup, his dream address is still up! I really like the items in his left room, with all the weapons. I also like the wallpaper and carpet. I am thinking of making my mayor's house to be the castle and have either the fountain or the lady-water-feature-thing. I definitely want to have a courtyard. I really like your suggestion about the armor shop and blacksmith so I will try to make those for my character homes. I also want a tavern hehe. Then, one of the houses will have to be Merlin's house, with potions and cauldron for his enchantments and warlock practices. I am almost sure that I will make this town. I can keep you updated, if you want. Wanna be friends on ACNL

Omg, so it's not going to be Camelot. There seriously are about 20 other towns named Camelot and Avalon -_-"

Oh, really? I had no idea. Maybe name after a different place or item in the Camelot tales. Like maybe Excalibur or something. I really don't much about Arthurian lore, except for the very basics >.<

I still haven't decided on a name for my town. This is tough...Do town names matter that much?

A Camelot themed town would be splendid! Ive seen harry potter theme town, beautiful fairytale theme towns, and just magical ones like Lord of the Rings. Please tell me when you finish, I would love to visit your dream address! So far I think all the suggestions stated are really helpful! As for names, Im terrible with naming too but yeah try to name the town you designed yourself since you will have put all the time and effort into creating a Camelot town! Naming the town is like placing the icing on a beautiful and delicious cake! Its important =]

Will sure do! I think I am going to make my Monzon town to be my Camelot town. It is just the perfect name for it, I think...because I know what it means. The name Monzon means a lot to me too so there you go. I can't think of a better name. What do you think? (If you wanna know an explanation of meaning behind the name, PM me lol)

Hey I have been off acnl and the bell tree for these past few months because I was really busy :p This is a really late reply but hope you are doing well with the Camelot town now. I was wondering if you finished?
