What do you think of Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric?

I've been talking a lot with many Sonic fans. The new generation of Sonic Boom has come out, including the TV show and the games. Since this is the Gamers' Lounge I thought I'd go for the games instead. Everyone's saying they're garbage and very bad. What do you think, based on playing or even just watching gameplay of it?

it was supposed to come out next month from what ive heard haha

still would've probably been an incredibly buggy and visually unappealing mess tbh


so in that regard its basically Sonic 2006 2.0 in the sense of that it clearly needed more development time, but was rushed out instead

in this case though, the rushing was likely to coincide with the cartoon rather than to get out for the holiday season or whatever

I honestly believed that people were being too harsh on this, but after reading up and then actually playing it I realized this is just a bad game. It was a rushed out game that was only rushed out for profit showing that the sonic team does not care about quality, but about money. It's a bummer.
I actually enjoy Sonic Boom. The show and the writers behind it, and the animation are great. But alas, no company can save Sonic.
Sonic '06 2.0 though.

Oh Sonic.
I used to think you were pretty cool back in the day, when I only had Sonic 1 and 3 to play...
Maybe things would be better if Sonic Adventure had never been made. Or a more responsible company had been in charge of Sonic's development.

The Wii U game was highly disappointing, really dropped the ball on that one.
Guys, we just got the best Sonic game in years with Generations, and now we're dropping the ball again.
(No wonder the guys that worked on that game were "ex"-Naughty Dog employes)

The 3DS game is much better than the console game & actually feels more like a Sonic game.
But it's still an average game.

The TV shows not that bad, it didn't made me laugh out loud, but they're a few moments that made me giggle.

Overall, Sonic Boom's meh.

I can't say I'm disappointed because that would imply that I had expectations in the first place.

The WiiU one from what I've played was horrible. The 3DS is sort of like a 'classic' Sonic game with all the fun removed. The demo alone felt like it would never end with 95% of the level looking feeling the same and the characters just being...Dull...


Yet again though, Sonic has managed to soar far below everyones expectations, which at this point isn't a good thing considering his recent track record...

I felt like I was beta testing when I played it at a friends house. (The WiiU version)

It's really bad. :c I wish they put more time and effort into this game. All they wanted was the Christmas sales, so instead of working more on the game, they just put it out there. Maybe they didn't use their time wisely?

Also, Sega did not send out any review copies of the game, so people who pre-ordered it, and fans of sonic in general, couldn't see any reviews. Therefore, they had no clue, and probably bought the game right when it came out. All those people must have been thoroughly disappointed.

Same here, I've been watching GG do it. I think they're a little bit hard on it, but then again, they are game GRUMPS. But yeah, Sonic is still crashing. I hope the TV show makes it, at least. I like the TV show a lot in terms of animation and humor.

I cant say Im a fan of anything thats recently come out. Im a big fan of Sonic 1, 2, and 3, but thats because thats what I grew up playing. Sonic Heroes wasnt too bad either, but anything past that I havent enjoyed at all.

You should try Generations & Colors, they're really good games.

Heh funny you mention Game Grumps:

The show is alright. I find it interesting that the majority of the "key" staff working on the game left ages before it launched or was going to go gold.

Funny that you mentioned that, Sonic 06 also had a hetic development period.
Resulting with Yuji Naka leaving the Sonic franchise for good.

A lot of the people who worked on this game basically left in July and that's how the game came to be.

I haven't played it, but I want to buy it with the one of the little Sonic, I think that is a great game! I love the new models of the band, except Knuckles, well... everyone hates new Knuckles xdd

The people hates the game because it haves a lot of bugs. But all the games have bugs! And probably the bugs are little and hard to see...

I was hoping for this to be posted, Scykoh is my bae!

My brother paid full price for this so he can play this pile of mess of a game and exploit it like hell, he LOVES glitchy games so that's why we also have Sonic 06.
