I was very late to buying and playing New Leaf, so I'm not sure if it was similar when ACNL was released, but it feels like there's a lot of negativity about New Horizons so far. I know there are a lot of things we're all missing from New Leaf, but I'm very hopeful those missing things will get added in updates.

While I think it's perfectly fine to express dissatisfaction with the game and discuss it, I'd like to see some positive discussion too! So I'm making this thread to list some things that I LOVE about New Horizons and I encourage anyone else to share!

I apologize if there's a thread like this already; I'm not as active here as I used to be and usually only check the forums once every other day or so.

- The weather, especially rain!
- The small details, like raindrops on the windows or the sound of rain hitting the tin roof of Nook's Cranny.
- How my villagers change clothes to suit activities or the time of day (Apple in pajamas is the best thing).
- Some of the dialogue so far has been so sweet and uplifting, especially with how rough life is right now:

- Mystery islands can be annoying when you repeatedly get the same ones, but when you DO get a rare island, it's such a nice feeling!

There are so many more things I love, but now that I'm trying to list them, I'm drawing blanks lol. I'll add more later

i love how gorgeous the quality is! and being able to place furniture outside - i’m also in love with the peach, shell and cherry blossom furniture lol

OH YES THE QUALITY! This is my first Switch game ever, so I've been blown away!

This game is so gorgeous.
I love the clothes so much.
Fences omg so amazing
I love you can finally put furniture outside
The villagers are so alive
The wind is amazing
The overall sounds are amazing

Short story is I love everything about this game lol

Villagers are cute af, things they say are funny, graphics are stunning, being able to edit yourself whenever is a1, them not moving out unless you say okay is great, placing buildings and their houses is amazing.

It is okay for people to vent, though. I am seeing a lot of people shutting down other peoples opinions and trying to debate them or discredit their feelings. I think people are taking it very personal when someone expresses disappointment in regards to certain things about this game missing, and that's not how it should be. I have personally seen an equal amount of love and disappointment about certain aspects of this game and that's great.

The people being overwhelmingly negative about it and claiming they hate it left and right are in the minority.

No grass wear!

Things automatically stack when I pick them up.

Bells go straight into my "wallet" and not my pocket when I pick them up.

The graphics are beautiful.

The villagers do more around the town--I saw Celia and Filbert doing yoga together on the plaza today.

Being able to move things around will be nice, I think. I just unlocked it but haven't started yet.

The villagers have much better dialogue options, like today someone talked to me about an answer I gave to another villager. I also really love that you can instantly gift each villager once a day, that's a real nice addition.

I love the little details. For example, if you are fishing at night and catch the football fish, the little light it has at the end of the little antenna thing is lit up.

This might sound odd, but the wind is my favorite thing in NH. How it has variable intensity, the way the leaves on the trees blow, the sounds everything makes... it truly feels like the sea breeze. Who could've known adding such a simple thing as wind to Animal Crossing would contribute to the feeling of inmersion and atmosphere this much.

There is plenty that I love about NH. To be honest, it's probably my favorite AC game along with the original GCN Animal Crossing. One of the reasons it's probably my favorite is because they brought back some amazing, long lost features: like the 3 tier hills, acres, messages in bottles, glow in the floor, different camera angles a la GCN, and so much more.

I love everything about villagers in this game, which is why it's making me want to have my dreamies so much more. The dialogue, imo, is on par with WW. It's funny, it's often lengthy and it's caught me by surprise many times. I love how detailed it can be. e.g. Kiki gifted me a dress that was very fit for autumn and a couple of days later, she appreciated that I was wearing it. I love was alive characters are in this game: Blathers is babbling again, villagers have so many interactions, etc.

I also love the graphics and the OST. I'm in love with the hourly music (except, maybe, for 8 am). I really like crafting as well. It's made the came so much more challenging to me.

- Items stacking automatically
- The absolutely GORGEOUS museum
- All the new furniture
- Texture detail (Flora and Teddy look so soft and fuzzy!)
- All the new design options for custom clothing
- Furniture crafting (not tool crafting, though).
- Seasonal items
- Increased frequency of villagers talking to each other (and their hilarious dialogue)
- Villagers' houses have way better themes and are just cuter overall inside
- Increased frequency of balloons compared to NL
- Isabelle's morning announcements
- The adorable idle actions Isabelle and Tom Nook do when you're in Resident Services.
- The 2 AM and 5 AM music

I have a lot of complaints about the game, but I have a lot of other things I love, too!

- patterns can be transparent
- different styles of clothing
- the music!! idk what it was about the new leaf music, but it just annoyed me (im sure thats a very unpopular opinion lmao)
- being able to choose where most things are placed/terraforming

i do think its pretty stripped down compared to the other games. im sure we will get updates though because it seems thats how nintendo is doing things, which i kinda like

I agree and I hope this thread didn't come off as though I think it's not okay to vent! There are definitely things I'm disappointed in as well, but I just wanted to include some positivity in the mix

The clothes are more than just patterns pasted onto a shirt, and I love it! I love making outfits and this game is great for doing that!

I love everything that everyone has added here so far!

I want to also add:

Isabelle's morning announcements, when she does her little head tilt at the end - that is my favorite

Oooh, I love the attention to detail of this game like if you close the blinds, it gets dimmer in the room. Also, when it’s raining, you can see the droplets on the window. This game is so beautiful!

I also love how the villagers do a lot of things on their own now instead of just walking around aimlessly. I think it’s cute when I find them singing, laying around and eating a snack, reading a book, etc.

I honestly prefer the dialogue in this game because some of the things the villagers say are quite interesting and make me laugh.

There are a lot of things I like about NH so it’s hard to think of everything off the top of my head..

Obviously terraforming and the amazing limits people test when designing their towns - the creativity of players has always amazed me.

The museum! I’ve never been so awestruck by a singular aspect of the game and I keep finding myself walking through it and checking all of the new donations I’ve made :’)

Fresh graphics - I love how everything looks, especially with the changing weather/seasons. It’s like I’m playing from scratch all over again.

I also like the crafting aspect and filling my catalogue, it’s something to look forward to everyday and I always love to visit other players islands :)

The dialogue with villagers seems more personal now as well, I’ve noticed a few things that made me think they were kind of breaking the barrier between game and real life. Hopefully it doesn’t get stale!

I just love how the game pushed the event a day back just because everyone who started playing on release date would have had their Nook's Cranny closed yesterday. It's just so endearing to me, that the developers plan these things and consider where the community is at.

The graphics.
- I got on New Leaf for a few minutes the other day, and the graphics were awful, and disgusting compared to NH.

40x Inventory slots.
- Past games had 15, and while you could use your letters to get an extra 10 spaces, that was only 25 slots, and it was a hassle to remember which letter you stored your slingshot in. Also, could not store fish/bugs in them.

Wardrobe
- The wardrobe makes changing outfits a breeze. It also works outside. This along with the wand (if you're into that) means you don't have to waste inventory space carrying around your favorite clothing. In NL, I would always carry 1 or 2 extra accessories with me.

Terraforming / Structure placements
- Although I've yet to accomplish anything with terraforming yet, it's nice to know I don't need to reset because my river is bad, or building placement was bad.

- There is no stress over villagers dropping their houses chaotically wherever they please.

Clothing
- There is a lot more clothing options than ever before, and I look forward to shopping at Able sisters everyday.

Vanity
- I love that we can change hair and color whenever we want. If we want to experiment with a hairstyle, we don't have to be forced to do it once per day, go through a stupid quiz, or be forced to quit-without saving just to undo the hair cut.

House storage
We literally get 1600 slots to store things in. That is enormously large, and no AC game in history comes close to beating that.

Items stack
- This is extremely useful do fruits and shells. Fruits could stack in NL, but not as good as 10x packs. This also works well for things like: iron, branches, stones, etc

Mailbox (300 letters)
- We don't need to be stressed over cleaning out our mailboxes, or running to the post office to save letters.
