I haven't reset my second town yet, hoping to do so soon.
I don't think I'm entirally picky about my town layout but I wouldn't mind a private beach and no thin areas because I have no idea what to do with those.
I have three ideas for three different towns though but haven't really thought about the layout of the town. I've never resetted before so I can't wait XD

Honestly, I've only had one NL town, and its perfect. There are some things I don't like about, like how there's a pond right near my Train station, so I can't put anything there. But My map honestly looks super nice. My house is right smack-dab in the middle of town, in front of the river. Olaf lives on the left side of me, and Chai is on the right. Cranston and Hans live behind me, and Not too far are Winnie, Tangy, and Etoile's houses. Dotty, Skye, and Flurry live on the other side of town, but that's fine. I still have this town 3 years later. One thing I would change is where my campsite is, because it's right next to my Tulip Topiary, which is kinda annoying :/
I wish they would add a feature, where you can move PWP, rather than having to spend money to demolish them, then have to pay for another. It would be sooooooo helpful!

A long beach, with a small private one.
I don't care about grass shape.
The river, horizontal, in the center of the map.
Re-Tail not far from the beach.
Lots of ponds.
I actually chose the first map I was shown, without knowing anything, and it turned out to be perfect.
Apart from 7 rocks.
