What do you like or dislike about today's ingame Halloween event?

I think it's sufficient for what it is. I enjoyed it. Selling/mass-crafting all my extra stuff at the end felt good too. This is how I'm guessing future holidays will more or less go. I don't really have opinions on how to improve it.

I'm starting to wonder if the community over-hyping this stuff is an unfortunate byproduct of the game's style of updates. New update gets announced, everyone goes nuts because wow it's an update, then it turns out to be average and people get disappointed. But like, what were you actually expecting though?

It would've been nice to keep the Halloween "trick" face patterns the villagers give you. It seems once you remove them, they're gone for good. Everything else was fun though! Glad it didn't take as long or feel as slow like in previous games.

I liked that we FINALLY got the actual robe Jack wears, not only that but it's the same design style (sleeves, length of robe, ect...). I wish it turned out bare feet and hands black like Jack but that might be nit-picky of me. The emotes are also really fun and cool.



Overall I did feel the event was lackluster and watered down from NL. It's very quick with not alot of payout.

i really liked the halloween music, the diys, the rs halloween decorations and the fact that the villagers + npcs were dressed up, too!

i don’t think there’s anything that i dislike, per-say, but i definitely miss the coloured pumpkin heads from new leaf ;v;

I liked the atmosphere, music, costumes, and silly little tricks that the villagers play on you. I like tricking the villagers into thinking you are Jack. I like the new emotes. I like that your villagers cannot trick you in a way that they poof away your clothing and permanently replace it with the trick clothing.

I didn't really dislike anything, but I do miss the different colored pumpkin heads from New Leaf.

aside from the cute spooky pumpkin furniture that were fun to craft and decorate withm, the event could have been better imo. not sure what i want to be better but i feel like there are something more to be desired.

I think it's okay with what I expected. Either you give them candy, you get the candy, or nothing.

It was fun, especially playing around with the reactions. But technically, it's just an event that lasts for 10-15 minutes if you have all the available spooky DIYs beforehand. Otherwise, it'll take some time to get all the recipes.

I would've liked it if at one point you and the villagers eat candy together. Or you can also ask Tom Nook, Isabelle, Nooklings, Blathers, and the Able Sisters for candy. Or at least one of the villagers is singing KK Dirge.

Creepy set and some Halloween themed items were gone, but it was also not Bunny or Wedding month and it played out similar to the other Halloween events from the previous games. So I enjoyed it overall. I think me expecting it to be annoying because they'd drag it out or make it anticlimactic like stamp day kept my expectations low and it surprised me.

I do wish the villagers would had worn spooky and cute stuff. Everyone was just wearing a hat and I could barely tell they had an actual costume on. Even a ghost sheet that covered all of them would had been cool.

What I dislike is the furniture items we got I would of liked a coffin like in new leaf and I really want furniture like pocket camp cause I always love the Halloween clothing/furniture every year.

I just said 'I could barely tell they had an actual costume on' They all wore like those polkadotted animal skins or whatever. It made them look like they were cosplaying Dr. Skrunk or PeeWee Herman.

I really liked the varied interactions on Halloween from my villagers of various personality types. The more you spoke to them, the more varied the reactions became. It was a great breath of fresh air!

I didn't like how repetitive the items from Jack were, though. Who needs 4 Jack robes, haha? Not that I don't like them, I just wish there were more items to get. I feel like it was very similar to the fishing tourney and bug off in that way!

Overall I found it enjoyable. I’m fine with it being quick and sweet since I know many having family activities or work. It probably would have been annoying for those that don’t TT and were busy on the day if it was packed with a lot of obligations for the items.

My only disappointment is I was kinda hoping he would send his framed picture the following day for being a “loyal servant”. I do miss the creepy set from New Leaf tho too. Oh well.

I loved the Halloween event. It was fun seeing them dressed up they looked cute.I loved the new reactions. I think the only think I didn’t like was how long it took to get a few more rugs. They gave a lot of pumpkins and I don’t need any more.

I really liked this event! I feel like this was the best NH event so far, and it was a fun take on Halloween compared to the older games. The only thing I miss is the creepy furniture set, like the coffin and the crystal ball, etc.

Spoiler: More detail on what I liked/disliked here to avoid having a wall of text

Liked:

• That there was the option to prepare during the rest of the month (getting DIY recipes from neighbours and candy from Nook's) but that stuff was available on the day too
• That the actual event itself was just 1 evening (compared to the other NH events which all like to be at least a week? lol)
• The villagers' costumes, that was very cute, even though 6 of my villagers ended up wearing the same 2 outfits. I found it kind of sweet that they matched.
• That villagers don't merciless hunt you down and trap you in a conversation; I found the pinging fairer and they don't bother you if you don't have candy, only if you refuse to give them some when you do.
• The pranks! The first time that it happened, I was disappointed to see how tame it was/that there weren't the multicoloured pumpkin heads, but I found it a lot of fun to see how much I could get pranked once I had collected everything.
• That Jack hangs around the plaza instead of being who-knows-where at any given time. I did miss the teleporting but I preferred being able to get the event over and done with and being able to have fun to running around all over my town in a panic/frustration like in older games.

Disliked:

• ...Yeah, pretty much the lack of creepy items. Hoping those come back next year.

Overall, I feel that NH's Halloween is much fairer and more balanced both as a Halloween event and as an NH event.

Spoiler: Detailed thoughts

Likes:

• The villagers were so adorable in their costumes, which seemed to be related to their species, and when they would chase you down to trick-or-treat with you.
• We had to option to prepare in advance for the whole month of October, but all the spooky recipes and candy were still all obtainable on the night of the event.
• The pranks were really fun! I kept asking for tricks to get cool face markings. xD
• The music and atmosphere around the island... I absolutely adored the fog and purple-y sky.
• Jack and three villagers hung around the Residential Services plaza almost all the time. This was a big time-saver.

Areas for improvement:

• Would have been nice to also get recipes for the Spooky Rug, Flooring, and Wall. I like consistency, goshdarnit.
• I wish we could have gotten duplicate recipes of the Carriage and Wand. One of my IRL friends isn't getting the game until Christmas, so I had gotten her duplicates of all the Spooky recipes except for those two.
