This is my perfect map. c: Yes, I'm too lazy to take a screenshot of the map and upload via SD card. XD

^I like a small private beach, a well balanced town (no top or bottom heavy), I like my houses to be near rivers and ponds, I like my Town Plaza/Retail/Town Hall to be near the train station.

My map is what I looked for in a map. I reset for months to get this.

Lol we have the same map except our beaches are mirrored.

I like the plaza near the centre, but I'd settle for it anywhere but near the train tracks.
Small private beach.
Town hall can be placed anywhere.
Re-Tail anywhere. I'd prefer it near the docks, but if I find a map I love, I'm not going to turn down it just because Re-Tail isn't by the docks.
West facing beach. I prefer the museum on the right.

I have a town and I really love it, in just ten days, it'll be 1 month since I started my town. :)

omg your maps are great, haha
my current one looks like this before i reset (ignore the houses, they're in different places now) mamammaay.jpg

how do you guys screenshot the bottom screen?

I posted mine through Miiverse & then got the picture from there and uploaded it to Imgur, but you can also go to the Town Hall & ask Isabelle to demolish a Public Works Project and take a screenshot from there.

things i like about my town map include:

  • the ramps on two opposite ends of the beach
  • event plaza directly below the lake
  • re-tail close to the dock + my house
  • cafe close to the shore
  • campsite away from most of my villagers

I'm SUPER picky about my map. I like the following:

- 1-2 Ponds
- River must not be windy/too curvy
- Plaza, Re-tail and Town hall must be separated (At least further away from eachother)
- The slopes to the beach must be heading straight to the dock
- The river must at least be in the middle so it's equal

River that doesn't look too.. jagged;
Big enough waterfall area for a perm pwp like the campsite;
Some kind of corner for my house;
A clear path from the dock to Re-tail - the retail pond has to be on the side opposite to the dock;
Apples, cherries, or peaches.
I don't really care about grass (I think they all look neat), or where the plaza is.

I think that's it.. Really, I just need to be able to visualize a spot for all of the perm projects/houses. If I can't immediately picture a place for those pwps then I will keep looking for a new map. I'm pretty happy with my current map, although I wish I could have put my house in a sharp corner, rather than a rounded one because I like to push my house against something with 1 space to the side/back of it, which I couldn't do evenly in a round river corner. It would also be nice if I didn't have to zig-zag to my dock.

things I look for when choosing a new town are:

*retail close to train station/main street
*town fruit being apples, cherries or peaches
* town plaza being in the center of town
*town hall and retail being close to town plaza
* I don't want just one flat boring surface so I want land that curves and twists or something interesting like that
* 2 ponds maximum, 1 being preferrable
*It would be nice to be able to have 1 straight line from train station/main street all the way down to the docks
*Preferrably a lot of land to work with for future plans and pwp's

That's all I can think of atm but yea :P

- minimal ponds
- a not-straight river
- plaza off to the side (i feel like it takes up so much space in the middle of town) and town hall behind it
- a little corner to put my house
- peaches

Minimal ponds is a must. While I love ponds in real life, they are too restricting in AC. I love water, but a long river takes up a lot of space, so a river that winds, but still takes up minimal room was perfect. I always want my house to be close to the river so I can have a nice little garden in front of the house and have a great river view. I personally don't care much about where the permanent buildings are located. I would prefer to have them more spread out. I love having Town Hall in the northern end of town, but this works fine.

I hate it when there's a weird random peninsula and there's no houses there, nothing, it's just an awkward, wasted strip of land.
