Heyo! Long-time player here (since 2005 ish) and never really played with friends until New Leaf, which had the advantage of island minigames and such. I was wondering what do you guys do with your friends when you play ACNH together? I have linked up with my friends before and I can't tell if its too early-game or if I'm just really nervous and bad at playing with others but I find after ~10 minutes on someone else's island I want to go back to my own, and I start to get anxious if someone is still on my island after the same amount of time because I wonder if they're bored. So what do you guys do to combat this? Keep in mind I can't voice chat with any of the people I play with so it's mostly just texting via messages to communicate.

Nintendo is probably regretting cutting the mini games from NL with how heavy the online presence has been with this iteration lol. I'm in the same boat, I'm usually bored after I run around a little and whack my friends with my net. We're usually on a call and just chit chatting while running around which makes things a little less about finding the next thing to do and just about being together in the same place

Go to nooks cranny, and able sisters that's about it, neither me, nor my friends really cares to visit another island because there's nothing to do.
Unless you're into roleplaying there's no point.
Which is sad.
It's like they purposefully made the game that way lol, can't even move items when you got guests, and they can't even access their bank, or storage, and no minigames.

I don't generally bother visiting or inviting any friends unless I have a specific purpose. For example, last week, the hot item at Nook's was a very simple recipe that could be mass produced and sell at a decent price...so I invited my brother to come and craft/sell a bunch so he could make some bells. Aside from things like the stalk market and hot items, I don't see much value in visiting or having visitors (aside from just seeing what people are doing with their general layout, of course).

For me, it's a matter of us having a small discord channel where we'll chat while we play the game. Sometimes we'll hop on voice chat while we all hunt for tarantula together. Other times it'll be like "hey, I have these items in my shop today/this npc is in town/there's shooting stars/rain in my town, gates are open for whoever wants to come over."

it is really weird to me they got rid of the ability to access the storage and ABD, which makes turnip selling a lot more tedious because you have to make multiple trips (which take FOREVER mind you) and you can't pay more than what like 20 million bells for something at once? it's weird, it's like the discourage the kind of large-scale trading that took place in NL.

as for the minigames I'm still holding out they will see that removing/not including them was a bad idea and they'll put some in

Every few days my friends and I will go to each other's islands to shop, see any special visitors, get recipes from crafting villagers, etc. Generally we don't hang out too much beyond that, but if there's a meteor shower we'll spend a half hour or so wishing on stars. I probably spend more time thinking up clever things to say and sending letters with presents to my friends than I do hanging out. (Of course, that might be because typing a whole letter is so dang slow.)

Once in a while we just hang out and fish/catch bugs while on speakerphone/doing voice chat.

Multiplayer is so stale because there is little to nothing to do. I hope they bring mini games back or any similar activity for groups. Maybe we are just boring, but sometimes we just end up wandering around aimlessly.

I've got a discord group with all my AC friends and so, rather than visiting each others islands, we mostly just chat on there and talk about trading and such. If we do visit each other though, its mostly just a lot of net-bopping and helping each other with cleaning up the island whilst also me spending like 30k on lily seeds at my friends shop lol

I enjoy visiting people that I don't know much and just chatting and chilling in their island. I know a lot of people compare their multiplayer experience with NL, but NL was very exceptional. Most AC multiplayer is what we have now: visiting each other and chilling, lol. I do hope they add more multiplayer features, bc obviously that would make it more fun, but I do enjoy the chilling aspect about it, lol.

I don't really invite my friends over cuz it actually stops us from making any progress. Can't terraform, design patterns, move furniture and all that. Instead, I just talk to people while we independently design our islands and have a good time.

I went on a museum date last night which was pretty fun and surprisingly romantic *´ェ`*

Other than that, mostly just shop, talk with villagers and get/give tours of how things are coming along. I’m still holding on hope that they’ll eventually introduce some mini games, or at least give us a timer so we can make our own.

My friend and I have fishing contests off the pier using fish bait! It's fun to compete with your bobber placement to get the fish and if you both bring bait you usually end up with a good profit from big ones. You might have to explain to each other outside game to get the idea down but we didn't really have to communicate much to play. Just toss bait and jostle on the tiny pier for space lmao.

Off the top of my head, you could also play hide and seek which would be fairly simple to set up via ingame text chat (can even count the numbers with ease), and I've seen people on reddit also set up their towns as mazes with fences and hiding items for treasure hunts.

I also believe there's the:

timer tool, which I haven't gotten yet but if it works like previous games should allow you to set a timer plus count the bugs/fishes everyone catches.

There really isn’t anything to do. I miss the mini games but even then multiplayer in animal crossing has never really been good.

All you can really do is tour someone’s town and shop.

Usually checking the shops, if they have Sahara/Celeste or they want to catch fish and bugs on my island because I made it to be SH than NH.

But now that I'm beginning to terraform, I don't want to reveal what I'm doing and they're getting snoopy.

I've read a few different articles about games people make up. It seems to be a case of "You've got to make your own fun".

I could imagine some of these being fun to play with friends, but some seem like they may be a hassle to set up. The host would have to put a bit of effort into it.

We usually talk on messenger or voice chat while exploring, chatting with villagers and visiting stores.
My friend and I also have a thing where we send one another the strangest costumes we can find.

Usually if its Saturday I'll hop onto my friends islands so we can jam :)

Other than that I'm usually buying something, dropping off or picking something up from their island. If its a group of us it's a little more fun and everyone breaks out the pan flute
