Hi all,

I?m just beginning to roll out the design plans for my side character Alice but I?m having a bit of trouble deciding what to do with her main room. At the moment I only have the upstairs and downstairs rooms built so there aren?t any doorways to worry about but I?m not sure whether that?s going to stay that way.

Mayor Willow already has a lounge room set up as her main, which I think is pretty conventional since it works well in the larger space but I?d like to do something different for Alice. What do you guys do in your main room?

Thanks ~

My main room is usually a living room, but I have made the main room a couple of rooms by establishing each corner of the room as the kitchen corner, sleeping corner, lounge/reading nook ect... For the up and down stairs, the up stairs could be a attic full of storage or a tiny bedroom, and the basement could be the pantry or a casual game room.

My main room is a Nintendo-themed room, with a lot of fortune cookie and amiibo items in it. This is what it looks like:

My room was the same theme in my old town, too. I just think it looks really cool, especially the newer amiibo items like the rupee and gamecube drawer (which I remember wanting in City Folk, another childhood dream revitalized).

I'm still considering what I'm doing for my main room but i'd imagine I'd do something like a kitchen, and maybe a dining set in the room as well

I just have some of the things that I use the most in there so that I can easily access them.

It depends on the character and what my plans for the rest of the house are.

For my mayor, I have her main floor set up as almost a public area, a place for her to entertain guests and whatnot. So I made her main room more of an entryway, waiting room, sort of thing.

My alt is a farmer and has a small traditional Japanese farmhouse. The main room is basically the main living space. He just has a small bedroom upstairs and a crop storage area in the back.

For my second town, which I haven't started yet, but I'm already in planning mode, the mayor is going to have an elegant and traditional home so I plan on making her main room into a parlor/living room. I will have an alt in that town too who runs a public building and her main room will be the lobby/museum area with statues and fancy columns.

Your this room looks kinda like entrance hall in old inns in my country Japan. I wish we could put furniture of our choice on the stair dresser for more sprucing up. u_u

I have a lot of towns. In my main town, my mayor character's main room is a "dinosaur forest".
To embody the air, I prefer to use sounds/lights. In this room, some gyroids keep making a weird sound, while insects in the fall make the sound of autumn inbetween, so it'd somewhat feels like you're in the forest.

Like Stella, my main room is a living room. My main Mayor has a fully refurbished to pink regal set with some accenting furniture like a bookcase and some plants; my side character V has a living room with Gracie furniture and a pool table and other assorted things. my second mayor breaks the mold a little because she's going to have the full mermaid theme, though.

On my non-mayor characters I have a convenience store room and a night garden. They really should make more sets that don't have a bed/wardrobe/dresser

I love the farmer character and the idea of a crop room! very cute

Mine is just a entry/general foyer room, it is not really a living room as that is the room to the right.
It is meant more to be a messy sort of storage study room.

That makes me so happy to hear, because that's kind of what I was trying to do based on pictures and movies/TV shows I've seen.

Your dinosaur forest sounds really cool!

I really love this idea! I?ve done libraries before but I really like the idea of a messy study. It?s a lot more liveable for the main room of a house.

My main character has a living room there, with a seating area, a kotatsu dinner area, some deco, .. I think it's the cutest when there is a lively room when you enter. I don't really decorate by theme, rather by colour.

My second character runs a 7/11, so you enter straight into the shop when you visit him :)

I'll see if I can take some screenshots tonight and post them here!

My main room is my living room for my mayor. I have a mix of cinnamoroll, kiki and lala, and my melody furniture in ithere.
I usually always make it a living room, but for side characters, I make something different if they serve a purpose. One of my characters had a flower shop at the bottom, and a small bedroom upstairs, so it looked like she lived in the top of her shop.

Another character had a bathhouse and was similar.

My witch town's mayor had a living room/potion area in the front.

Overall, it's fun to be creative with the main room. It really helps get the idea of what someone really likes.

like many others below me, i always keep my main room as a living room! i usually put the bedroom upstairs, kitchen/dining room in the back. i also love the bath series so i like having one room dedicated as a bathroom/spa-like room. i always have one sort of room that i customize depending on the character - some ideas for this i have are study/library room, play room, beauty room, themed room depending on the town, workout room, musical instrument room, but what usually ends up happening is an extra storage room lol.

just as a personal note I never put beds or make bedrooms out of main area it just seems wrong and weird. Its usually a nice vestibule with some sort of theme around it, like I really love the fruit furniture and tangy so I've tried to remake her house time and time and time again. I typically go for a classy look to et up the other rooms as well.

Inm y main town I'v had for several years, I had an ancient library type of feel with a rock floor and the library wall. IT came out very nice and exactly the feeling i was looking for with more bookshelves, the little fire lamp, books, and I think even a tiny model of a fossil or something. This went well with my excavation site basement that was just below it

For my main room, I usually pick a theme I like and set it up like a living room. In my new town I decided to go for the mermaid theme!! Kind of regretting it lol but if I finally get all the pieces I'm sure it will look nice.

I agree with all of you on the living room/ common area idea. I think a bedroom looks weird and a bit awkward in this space since it’s the main entry point of the house. A foyer would be beautiful in a large mansion type but I think I’ve settled for a sort of living/ study area. I’ll post pics when it’s done.

I am not sure what I am going to do in mine, but I am getting some ideas from the above. I think it would be cool to have a more zen feeling entry. That way I can have a more "furniture" full room elsewhere, a kitchen, maybe a bathroom in other rooms.
