I have recently sorted out my closet so I can get rid of items I don't want, and now I'm stuck with over 30 items that can't be ordered from the catalog. I feel like selling them at Re-Tail would be a waste since they're rare and I know I could make people happy with them, but I can't be bothered to take the time nor have the time to go and wait until people have shown interest and then trying to go online with them (the hardest part, with timezones and real-life for both parties). It would be much more convenient for me to just get rid of them at Re-Tail, but I feel like it's such a waste. :/ I don't really care about the money I could get for them though. ^^

Anyway, I was wondering what you do with unorderable items that you don't need, that you gathered from events and special visitors. Do you just sell them at Re-Tail or go on the forums to sell them? And do you sell them right away or wait until you have stack to sell at once? I would like to know. :)

TL;DR: only read the second paragraph

Yeah, I prefer giving them away / selling them (depends) to people of the forum, but there's not a lot of interest really unless it's like super rare and people tend to get rather rude and demanding and that really takes the joy away from doing a giveaway.

you can sell and do whatever you want with them. some people sell for igb and some try to sell for tbt so it's really just up to you and how you wanna do it.

just go ahead and make a thread of all the stuff you got and sell it off at prices you find reasonable? if you get more items as you go, just add them to the list. you can do whatever you want.

I'm having the same problem. I hate to just sell them at Re-Tail because I don't need the bells and I'm sure that someone out there wants them, but I try giving my extra unorderable items away and no one seems to want them. I have a pile of stuff laying around my train station that I really want to go. Honestly, if someone would just pretend like they want the stuff and sell it right away at Re-Tail without telling me, then at least I'd feel happy thinking I helped someone.

What I've found, though, is that it's much more fun to just give them away to random new player that visit your town or you visit theirs for whatever reason. It makes their day, it makes your day, it's pretty neat.

I typically give them away. I've got plenty of bells now (6m!) so I don't really have a reason to sell anymore. :P

If I have something I don't want to do away with, I just head into the museum, and toss them in the showrooms, there. They make an amazing method of storage, believe it or not.

Unfortunately I have already used that space up because I have all the gyroids stored there because I'm a compulsive hoarder.

But why hoard it when you don't need them? I have selected a few that I want to use in rooms later, but all the others can go. I also put a set on my second character now.
The biggest of a problem for me is that it's hard to finally go online with someone. I'm teaching myself to be more 'selfish' when selling/giving away now, so if I can't sell it within a weekend for example, I cut off the deal. With some people it's just impossible to find times you're both available, especially during the week. In that case you just have to find somebody else, and I'm finding it hard to disappoint people like that? I feel quite rude, though I really should put real-life first and not try to do everything to find a time.

I collected a ton of stuff a while back and it was everywhere... most of it unorderable. I wrapped everything up (it took AGES) and left it around my train station. Then I posted on TBT that I was having a giveaway and invited people over to do a lucky dip. Each person got to pick one mystery package and take it home. The proviso was that they were not allowed to open it until they got back to their own town.

It took quite a long time to set up... but people really seemed to enjoy it and the stuff went really quickly! It also helped me get my train station upgrade! :D

I can never bring myself to get rid of anything rare/unorderable. I've filled up my locker, started another character and filled up her locker, filled up the museum, etc. Seeing all the giveaways around here though has kind of inspired me to start letting some of the stuff go. I'm almost satisfied with my house's decorations too, so pretty soon I think I'll give away all my unused furniture.

I massively cut down on unorderables after I reset and will not be rebuilding the hoard. the rest is either being used in my house or stored in one museum room. I might give away/sell a few of the things in there, as much as I like them. but I dunno.
I p much always have decent luck getting rid of most unwanted stuff on here, though it is sometimes annoying.

I used to sell them online but now I don't need bells and it isn't worth the amount of TBT you get anymore so I don't bother and just give them to Reese.

Usually, I am like, "I'll sell them on the forum." Then when it comes to actually trying to sell them, I'm just like, "Whatevs, going to Re-tail." Sometimes I do try and sometimes I don't. Whatever I'm in the mood to do at the moment.

One thing which I think would be a nice idea is if someone has a cycling town or some town which they don't care about that much, then that person could let anyone who wants to get rid of unwanted items come over and just drop stuff on the ground somewhere and let people who want free stuff come over and take the stuff. I don't know if there is anyone who is willing to volunteer for that though.
