Honestly I usually give them whatever I have in my inventory as I can't be bothered to go find something decent. I gave Joey a bathroom stall today. Sorry Joey!

Hahaha! Honestly, if i like the villager in question, i'll probably take time off my busy mayoral schedule to find him/her a decent item, but some days, i just get too lazy to actually get them anything nice so i just give them what i have in my inventory (Sorry Wolfgang!)

From usual I store furniture pieces that are selected before hand and refurbished, for each villagers in my town, in case they ask for this. Because decorating their room interior is my hobby. So, for each villagers, at least 4 furniture of each size ( 1x1, 1x2, 2x2 ) + wall furniture, are prepared. (Sorry I know I sound nutty) And I even do this for the villager who I know I'll void eventually.
Sometimes I even go out of my way and would time travel in my other town, to order the desired furniture from the RVs for them, when I happen to not have it on hand. You can call me nuts. (-_-;

I give them nothing. Because I want to make their houses as original as possible.

Damn, you put in a lot of thought into that, I wanna do this as well, but im too lazy to actually prepare things before hand Hahaha!

If its a villager that I like who's asking for furniture, I either give them something that would match their home, or just don't give them anything at all. I'd rather give them nothing, rather then something that doesn't match.
I really like RedTrocipalPachyFish's idea though, so I might start storing furniture for when they ask!

I usually don't give them anything unless I have something special in mind. I won't give them anything that clashes with their theme or decor. Plants usually goes with most styles though, so that's a pretty safe gift.

That's actually what i think of whenever i have a villager ask me for furniture, i always think of what furniture would match with their home, but sometimes im just too lazy to find a furniture that matches or i simply dont have one, so i just give them a random item

I used to give my villagers random items, but then I started feeling bad about only having a toilet in my inventory haha. I don't think Fauna appreciated that :p

only having a toilet in my inventory
lol

It's one fun quest, to see their room changing. :D
Now I have a problem with Fuschia's room. She's never ever going to let her Lobo Chair go, no matter what. It's been sitting against the wall these 5 years uhh... But I kind of acknowledge it, maybe she likes that chair, however.

I used to give my villagers anything they asked for without any thought until one day I walked into Tammi's house and it looked like a literal dump, complete with steamroller. After that I started putting more thought into what I give them. I don't care about keeping their homes original, but I do like for them to look nice.

Like RedTropicalPeachyFish, I keep some furniture on hand for each villager, plus a few generic items like plants that look good in almost anyone's house. I have them in Retail and taking up about 2-3 tabs of my storage. So when a villager asks for furniture, I just find something appropriate and give it to them.

If I have something good to match their home aesthetic, I give it to them.
However, if it doesn't really go with them, I don't like for them to have it as it doesn't feel right in a sense.

When it's a villager i really like and it isn't past 5 pm yet i look for something in my catalog that matches their house? Or i give plants because those are nice. Sometimes i get a bit lazy and just catch a fish and give it to them? At one point muffy's house was 70% fish oops sorry muffy :))))

I'll give them whatever furniture i have on hand, if i dont have any on hand ill usually just go buy something

No joke I wonder if this kind of behavior is the common trait of people who has job like yours or mine.

I do not accept the request; unless I am looking to fix something in their house, or I am swapping something out for something else that could look better.

i never give them anything, i like most villagers' houses the way they are.

unless their house is butt ugly then i might try to spruce it up a little but with my luck they always place things in the wrong spot lmao.

For certain villagers, like my dreamies in Moriyo, I give them furniture to match their house, and I'm very precise about it. I'll look up their default house, get some items I think will match well while still taking up the same space as the furniture item in question I hope to replace, and keep those items in my storage or outside their house. Over time I see what furniture they replace and the empty gaps in their home.

Then it's a waiting game. Once they finally ask me to give them something, I decide which item to give them. It's easier if they say they want to replace a specific piece of furniture. It's a little harder if it's anything. I frequently keep track of how their house currently looks. So let's say they have a 2 space gap, I'll give them a 2 space furniture item to fill that gap. It gets harder when they have multiple of the same space gap. Sometimes I want them to place somethin in a certain area, but they don't.

I almost always save and quit then restart the game so they're in their house, so I can see where they put it, then adjust the items I want to give them accordingly. However some animals are more stubborn then others (I'm looking at you Sterling). So far I've managed to decorate Flurry's house to completion, a little bit of Sterling, some of Phoebe (I actually like alot of her stuff now) and a tiny bit for Benjamin.

So yeah, I give them stuff to match their d?cor.

Honestly, same. Although, if I like them, I'll go find something that'll go well in their house. They usually ask me whenever I'm running to sell furniture or previously got it from someone else, and somehow there's always something that would go great with their house. So I just hand them that.
