what do you do when a villager won't ping you about moving?

So I was walking around with my second character, Mew, trying to see if someone will ping me since I'm about to TT to the next day to get some items in the mail. Flora told me that Whitney's planning on moving out, but I tried on both Mew's and Shaymin's save files to get Whitney to ping me, but she wouldn't and I'm stuck on Wednesday and I can't even get my items. Is there a trick to get villagers to ping you about moving?

Save and quit and try again on your mayor each time. Keep trying that but if it doesn't work then maybe try TTing one day ahead and have another go?

I just save and open again. They won't always ping on first time, so just keep trying c:

Save and quit then load the game again using your mayor. Do this as many times as you have to. Sometimes they don't ping you on the first try so you have to save, quit, and reload the game multiple times.

I've tried a swimming trick few times and it works well. Stuff your pockets with flowers or whatever a villager won't try to buy, swim to the furthest corner of the map, and than leave your console for around 7-10 min.
