What did you get your villagers for their birthday?

So Cherry's birthday is comming up and I have no idea what to get her. I bought her a dress, but already gave it to her because I wanted her to wear it right away. I've been thinking about an anthurium plant, but I already gave one to Tabby and Hazel and I don't want everyone to have the same things. It's also my first time celebrating a villager's birthday and Cherry deserves the best since she is such a good girl.
So I guess I'm looking for inspiration ... What did/ will you get your villagers for their birthday? Feel free to post gifts given without an occasion as well if you think they were a really neat idea for a specific character

i’ve only had one birthday so far (bertha) and i saw on a guide that her preferred style is elegant and she likes the colours pink & white (i think lol) so i bought her the white elegant hat! :>

Cherry is on my brother's island and I'm preparing for her birthday. I crafted her a cherry lamp and customized it to be a black cherry and wrapped it up with black wrapping paper. But then Leopold gave me a black and red striped shirt. I wrapped it up with gray wrapping paper and I'm going to give that to her instead and drop off the other gift for my brother to give her later.

The cherry lamp is actually a good idea! There are also cherry speakers and if I'm not mistaken, she is lacking a radio. Thank you, you just gave me an idea

Biker jacket sounds awesome, haven't seen one yet. Personally I think Cherry looks great in black

Birthday gifts are given present tiers, depending on the type of item and how much it sells for:

Not Allowed: DIY recipes, Bells
Trash: Lost items, Spoiled Turnips, Trash, Weeds
Tier 1: Honeycombs, Mushrooms, Shells, Bugs, Fishs, or Fossils that sell for 500 bells or less, or any other items that sell for 125 bells or less
Tier 2: Honeycombs, Mushrooms, Shells, Bugs, Fishs, or Fossils that sell for 501-1999 bells, or any other items that sell for 126-499 bells
Tier 3: Honeycombs, Mushrooms, Shells, Bugs, Fishs, or Fossils that sell for 2000 bells or more, Cake, Turnips, Fruits, Items owned/worn by the NPC, Clothes currently worn by the player regardless of sell value, or any other items that sell for 500 bells or more

Friendship point increase:
Trash: -5 points
Wrapping bonus: +1 additional points per present tier
Tier 1: +3 points (+1 if wrapped)
Tier 2: +4 points (+2 if wrapped)
Tier 3: +5 points (+3 if wrapped)

This means that the most friendship points that you could gain with a birthday gift would be to give them a coconut (Tier 3, so +5) that is wrapped (Tier 3, so +3) and receive +8 points.

I changed my mind (couldn't find the black jacket, and gave Cherry a visual-punk dress for her birthday today. Of course, it was wrapped. We'll see tomorrow if she likes it and it ends up in wardrobe rotation, and not hung up on the wall.

I don't blame you! Cherry was one of my starter villagers though, so her house was already a complete wreck.

That's one little advantage of the starter homes, I guess. Although I think Cherry's original home is gorgeous, the starter home is quite sad in comparison. At least your's is more comfortable now with the cushion

I made Bunnie a tulip surprise box (red). She has a bunch of cute red things in her house, and it matched the decor really well. I also noticed that she likes to fiddle with things that are cute, so I thought she'd like it. It's in her house rn!
