hello ~
so one day i got very bored with my map layout. even though my island was 5 stars and 95%, i tore everything done. right now i only have some of the front portion decorated while everything else is empty lol.

the thing that i’m having trouble figuring out is how to decorate my south river bed, and even the east one. the south river bed is way too close to the giant moon lake that i have in (almost) the middle of the map. i would just connect them but it looks so weird if i do that.

so the tl;dr, what did you do with your riverbeds? i am completely stuck and need inspiration. if you could provide pictures, that would be great. thank you!! 💙

i'm in the middle of reworking my island too.....love being indecisive lol

since my island is cursed with double front river mouths, i just gave up on one and turned it into a little waterfall cliff display in front of my playground area. might turn it into a picnic spot when spring rolls around here

This is so cute! I hate that we can't remove riverbeds but this is such a nice idea for them.

My south-facing river exit connects to a long river than starts in the north of the map. It separates a tropical forest area away from the rest of the town.

The second is east-facing, and got in the way of my plans, so it's a short waterfall in the upper corner of the map. My campsite is tucked away behind it.

having some waterfalls near the riverbed does seem like the safest choice. by the looks of the picture, it would look gorgeous!! 💙

i LOVE this. it feels so open and natural.

West exit has a waterfall in front that also hides Tabby's seaside village behind it. The area before the bridge is a flea market and I put a seating area right by the river so you get a nice scenic view of the waterfall!

South river exit has some garden benches lining the side. There's another hidden village where Hamphrey lives on the spiky side but I didn't want to put a bridge there so that it would feel more secluded and harder to access. Right next to that stall with the umbrellas is Able sisters.

I found landscaping these areas to be really hard mainly because I'm uninspired by my layout and river exits in general lol. I went through many versions before deciding on this and I think I'm finally happy with it.

I don't like my rivers layout either but I love what nageki did. I might take inspiration from this. I'm really struggling landscaping my island. I see people's wonderful pathed, well agenced island and I'm getting jealous, mine is literally almost like when I arrived on it months ago haha

thank you!! i seriously just got fed up with my natural river taking up so much space with the double south exits that i just dug up the whole thing and made my own dang river.

i'm sure you'll figure out your own island sometime! my advice would be to just start freestyling out any ideas you have and then just slowly work your way outward from there - just focus on the little area on your screen instead of worrying about the whole map because eventually your ideas will start to connect themselves and it'll fall into place
