I was going to put this in the General Discussion, but I felt like it deserved it's own thread, so here it is.

-Penalties should be more consistent
They seem to be completely random numbers and are never very consistent, and should follow a system of something like however long it's been since the other team had control of it/2 or something like that.
-Penalties should only be given to the winning team
Why is it that when you're losing and the other team takes the zone from you, you are given a penalty? Why are you being punished for losing? You should be punished for winning so the losing team has a chance to win, not punish the losing team so the winning team has an easier time winning.
-Ties and overtime
I am still completely clueless on this. If the time runs out, whoever has less time on their clock (not including penalties) wins. This hasn't been the case, where the team with more time left has won, or the game goes into overtime. I was winning a game today with 12 seconds left, the other team had 68, but we didn't win, we went into overtime. When did that get in the game and why does it just happen? More importantly, what do you even DO during overtime?!?!
-Put Splat Zones in Regular Battles as well
I just want to play with friends, no other reasons really.
-How much you contribute should be a factor in your score
This is my biggest complaint with it. I'm almost always 1st or 2nd in my team. I don't really care that much when I'm on the winning team, but when I'm on the losing team, this is where I get annoyed. Let's say I get more kills than everyone on the other team combined, have no deaths, and painted the zone inn the most, but my other 3 teammates did nothing so my team lost. I get the same punishment for losing as people who did nothing even if I do WAAAY better than people on the winning team. I could understand if these were teams we organised ourselves, but with random people, there's no way of telling who you'll be with. Your rank drops and you look like a bad player when you're not, you just keep getting matched up with people who are bad.

Okay; semi-rant, semi-speculation over.
 
im sure there is some logic to the penalties, maybe someone can enlighten us
 
I agree with all of this. The only reason I play turf wars sometimes is because I know I'll always at least get SOMETHING for participating. If the other team gets a knockout you don't get squat.

As for points, I thought the pattern was like -10 for losing, -8 for losing due to knockout, but ofc that's not the case at all. Currently sitting at 0 points in C+ rank.

I feel there should be some kind of handicap if a team is dominating xx to 100. There have been like 30 second matches because one team gets control and the other doesn't have enough time to act. That's ridiculous. I feel like if this goes on past the 50 mark the team with 100 still should get a Bubbler until they at least break the other team's hold on the zone.

Also, dunno if it's me but I feel like the "zone points" should symbolize life or something? Like if you take over the zone, the other team's number ("life") starts dropping until they take it over again. Doesn't really matter much but it's just something I thought of.

Also, SLOW DOWN THE DANG COUNTER OKAY. It drops like nobody's business. I understand the "penalty points" dropping fast but that counter goes from 20-0 before I can even respawn.

yes idk why they dont make the counter go in seconds, they would just have to readjust accordingly

Sometimes I'll just be doing my own thing trying to splat some people while my team is taking the zone, then I'll look up and see we're losing 35-100. At that point I just put my Gamepad down. That's what I usually do when I respawn then since there's no time to even do anything.
 
The penalty goes by how many points they lost when they had control. For example if you went from 100 to 58 your penalty would be 42

Overtime only happens if the losing team has the zones I think or if they are all neutral.
 
The timer is according to Azza, and the over time thing depends on if the losing team has control at the point. Basically, if you were winning before over time, you just have to take control and you'll instantly win, but if you were losing, you have to keep control until you pass up the other team's score (so it'll end with a 1 point difference).

But it's ranked. If you're on a better team you shouldn't be punished for it. If I had to work better to overcome penalties simply because the team I'm on was better, surely that would be counter productive to the idea ranked battles?


I think the way penalties work is already pretty fair. The winning team has to hold on to the area for the longest overall, I mean, that's pretty fair. Penalizing the winning team at that point would be like a new rule in soccer saying the team with the most goals has to have their legs tied together and hop everywhere.

Though I agree with this. If I lose but I still did fantastically despite that, why am I getting the same penalty as the rest of my team who seemed to be just sat for the entire match eating the paint? Give me a penalty but seriously, give me a -5 or something if I still did well, not a -10 like the guys who spent the last few minutes picking their noses!

I wouldn't mind but one of the directs said rank will be determined by individual skill. It's really not though.

What I don't understand is why it's 100 seconds. That just seems really weird to me and yea, it's too short. Why not add an extra 20 seconds to the clock and make it a full 2 minutes?
