What can NPC amiibos do?

Besides inviting them to the Roost, is there any other use for special NPC amiibos? I'm thinking of buying some but I realized it's kinda a waste if all they do is invite NPCs to the cafe...

You can also make a vacation home for them if you have the DLC. You can also take a photo with them in Harv's island.

In addition, if you take a photo of them on Harv's Island, you'll unlock their poster to purchase.

This is true, even if it's an NPC who isn't actually in the game, (like Blanca, for example). The game won't actually let you place them down, but when you leave Harv's Island, you'll get a call from Harvey, apologizing for your model not showing up for the shoot, but he'll tell you about their poster, regardless.
