What are your thoughts on Hamilton?

I've never been to a musical play ever cuz I'm so broke, the only plays I experienced are high school plays, but I don't think they count xD I watched Hamilto through Disney+ and I thought it was amazing! The story fascinates me every time a watch it, and kudos to the person who plays Angelica in the musical, amazing vocals (and also to all the other cast members as well)!

I really enjoyed it from an artistic point of view. The cast were all incredibly talented and it has proved to be a culturally important musical across the western world. However, the historical issues are always of concern, to romanticise and glorify history is never a good thing and while I wish it could, this cannot be ignored. It was great for me though, it sparked a lot of interest in the history of it all for me so it is good that it encourages exploration of the topic due to how engaging it is. So long as it is always acknowledged that this musical is not historically accurate and rather a biased interpretation of it it's ok.

Hamilton was pretty good. Normally when something is extremely hyped I feel very wary. I usually end up feeling disappointed more often than not for things like this. But I was pleasantly surprised.

Les Miserables is still better in my eyes (I think the story for it is a lot stronger than Hamilton's, plus the characters get better development), but Hamilton definitely deserves to be considered a top musical. The one way Hamilton wins over Les Mis is that all of the songs are good. There is 1 song I hate in Les Mis - Bring Him Home. It's SO boring. I've never understood it when some people say they love that song.

That being said, I do have many problems with the historicity of the musical itself.

I do agree with what you're trying to say, but at least it's a musical. It's not trying to sell itself on historical accuracy. I think we need to be concerned about teaching with historical accuracy in classrooms. As an adult in my 30s, it's fairly shocking the amount of times I found out that something I learned in school was wrong. Some of it is because of the whole "history is written by the victors" problem, but it's not just that. Some of these things are flat out talltales or lies that keep being perpetuated.
