what are your Christmas Eve traditions??

Ours have changed over the years but the one constant is that we get to open one present before we go to bed.

We used to go to my grandma's for Christmas Eve but she passed away a few years ago. Even when we did that, as soon as we got back, we'd each get a present to open before bed.

My stepmom goes to mass (because she's Catholic one out of every 365 days) and my dad and I decorate the tree and watch Christmas movies/TV. This year he's going with her though, because none of her family members are here to go with her, so I'll be decorating on my own.

I don't have any for christmas eve, but just wanted to say all your stories are really sweet and uplifting <3

Every year, most of my family gathers together at my uncle's house and we eat food, exchange gifts, and play a Christmas themed game to see who gets a family heirloom plate. Sadly, this year was the last one for the game because my grandfather passed away this year.

It was still a fun time seeing everyone before the end of the year.

nothing special - sometimes we have a party or exchange gifts early at home.
I usually just get money - its a little disappointing but i guess i can get something i know i'll like

we usually take my brothers bowling, then pick them up, go downtown to the christmas village, and then come home, watch a christmas movie and order pizza

My family opens all presents on Christmas Eve. So we cook a huge meal and sit down and eat, then open presents after eating. Then we get together and play some type of game where the parents compete against the kids since it's an even amount of both. Kids have won two years in a row now and I hope we keep winning :-p
