Are there any risks to duping items? Anything like game corruption, the item disappearing from both towns, etc. >o<
I recently stumbled across the Snowman paper, and was hoping I could trade it for something from the regional stuff, trading it for other rare paper, etc. but found I'm having trouble letting go of such a rare item. ;u;

I think there is a possibility that the items will disappear, but I've duped many times and never had a problem! I think duping is a great way to mass produce things if you don't mind glitches. Too bad it isn't allowed on TBT

Oh, I actually didn't know it wasn't allowed! I had a hunch, but didn't remember seeing it being explicitly said. ;u; No wonder when I was looking for cheap duped 7-11 items I couldn't find any!
Thanks for the duping advice! I think I might still dupe it and have a "cataloging copy" that I can lend to others to fill up those pesky catalogues, if that's allowed. >w< I wouldn't want to risk losing my only set, but I don't want to hog this all to myself!

TBT doesn't accept any kind of hacking. I can understand why, keeping certain sets rare and stuff, but there aren't really any other AC forums that are active, so people who hack are forever alone ;-;

Yeah, I'm actually really surprised how pure TBT has managed to stay. ;u; I like that - it keeps the rares rare, but I wish there was a place I could pick up some cheap regional DLC stuff like the 7-11 and food sets.
I'd probably need to ask a member of staff, but if you were to clearly state that you didn't mind if the items you were buying were duped or not, would that be allowed? I really want to get my hands on that stuff, but possibly even that wouldn't be allowed because it's still sort of encouraging dupers/hackers. It's really hard to get hold of any other way though, because everyone knows exactly how rare it is and wants to keep it for themselves. >o<
I hate regional exclusives. Limited time, fair enough, but I can't fly to a different Japanese city every time something cute comes out on Animal Crossing.

there are a lot of people on tumblr who are hacking for others. i cant name any on the spot but i think a few who are taking requests would show up if you searched for it on there ?\_(ツ)_/?

Can you actually tell if an item is duped, just by seeing the item in game?

Sorry! >_< Double post.

It's not really a good idea to dupe items in ACNL. They already made it easier for us to obtains items, therefore, there is no reason to cheat the game.

The only reason I'm really interested in it is so I can share rare items with people wanting to complete their catalouges without the risk of the item being stolen/used/otherwise lost or destroyed. >o< I had someone steal my balloon furniture recently, which really made me rethink how desperate some people are to make things easier for themselves. I'd hate to lose something that's actually rare (and not glorified junk...)
I have to agree though - as a whole I'm against it, but I think there are special circumstances. It ruins the heart-skipped-a-beat moment when you open a letter and pull out something rare, or get a new DLC item, etc. not to mention the damage it does to little communities like TBT.

Have you checked out the TBT marketplace? Just asking since your account is quite new. I find since forum currency is so easy to come by the prices are pretty cheap. Again sorry for assuming you might not know, but you could buy 10 7-11 sets with the forum bells you currently have.

From what I know there is a slight risk of corruption. But it's nothing to write home about. If you're doing it correctly and such then chances are you'll never have a huge problem. If that risk bothers you you can either use a spare copy or power saves.

Certain other communities welcome duping but yes it's a no-no here. I'm guessing due to the "economy" this site has. Other sites don't have their own interchangeable currencies like we have so it isn't a huge deal. But duping usually has bad consequences for economies, either for normal users, vendors, or both. So I can understand their stance.

However it is your game and it's your choice to do whatever you want with it. Just, as I said, ensure you're doing it correctly and backup if you feel it necessary, and I doubt you'll have any problems.

Oh really?! ;u; Ah that's a great idea, thank you! I bought Flurry recently using TBT for far cheaper than I thought she'd be, but it completely evaded my mind that I might be able to use it to buy furniture I want! I'll definitely check it out when I get home, since I can't actually pick up anything I buy right now. XD
I'm waiting for an England exclusive so for once I can be the one with the region exclusives! >o<

There's a risk of corruption if you do it in local multiplayer. As far as I know if you do it via Internet you're fine.
There's also a small chance your items will disappear but in the few times I've duped I haven't had a problem.

Hello, as others have stated, discussion of duping isn't allowed here.
