What are the best, easiest to obtain furniture items to gift Villagers without ruining their homes?

I am aiming for all my villager portraits and understand furniture gives most points, but dislike ruining their houses with furniture/items etc.​

If you wrap up a piece of foreign fruit and give it to your villager, I believe it also gives a lot of friendship points as well

All furniture can ruin a villager house. They wont put it up but you can start seeing original furniture disappear. Just give them fruit

I heard wrapped large piece of fossils is ok because it is too big to fit in their houses.

I use coconuts, but foreign fruits work quite well for this too.

If you really want to give them furniture, the villagers don't do anything with furniture that hangs on a wall. You can give them those. Just make sure not to give them anything that can hang on their front door if you don't want it there, because they absolutely WILL put it on their door.
